    guys,

my oil light warning just flashing again, do you guys need to top up every year?

i'm on 24ish km and service was done at 14k km.

last year i was topped up using castrol edge sport 5w-30 but looks like they have changed to castrol edge titanium, has anyone using castrol edge titanium ?,are they the same product?

since shop is closed now, is it ok to drive with the light flashing? the oil just above minimum level last time i check

    thanks in advance

I would say it is either using excess oil for some reason, or was under-filled at your last service. Put some oil in ASAP, a dealer will provide what you need. Not sure if the Castrol comes in a 1 litre bottle or not if you are far from a dealership?
I'm doing 10000km oil changes in mine, & the oil level only seems to drop about 3mm from full on the dipstick over that distance.

No, I don't have to top-up but I do feel compelled to check my fluid levels about every 3-4 months.

Just put some masking tape over the flashing light & keep driving. You'll be right.

if it is flashing...top it up...but only a little bit!!!

some people panic and overfill it when the light comes on.

it probably only needs a cup full at the most!

    Hi everyone
I have the same question, Just got Tiguan 155,22000Km have done, but the engine oil still has enough just seems very dark and smelled now. previous owner used to put hard to engine when start driving, not good for longlife to engine.
I want to change the engine oil, need to change the filter as well? what kind of engine oil is better? needs any additives to treats it better?
    Thanks in advance

I check mine every week whether I use the car or not Never know when a line may break or something else may happen.

I would never leave it for 2000k let alone 10,000k between checking Cant believe someone doing that

Here is a link to All VW APRROVED oils The numbered ones are the rating the Step ones are by brand alphabetically

    https://drive.google.com/?usp=folder...VZja2dkLTI4dGM

Petrol engines from 2009 ? can usually use 502/505 rated oil. Diesel with DPF must use 504/507 rated oil

However all except some Touregs and some others may use 504/507 without any problems.

I use Penrite ENVIRO+ in both cars as can be bought at Supercheap or Autobarn on special for about $65 against the dealer charging $93 for Castrol edge Professional Longlife

The Shell Ultra Extra is sometimes available in shops but is usually not there. Have been told by shop muppet that Helix ultra is the same Its not and not approved. You should always use an APPROVED oil as should you have an engine problem VW may do an oil test and should they find an anomaly may decline to pay.

Therefore to say ANY 504 oil is a bit misleading EG Nulon have an oil which they say is "SUITABLE" for VW Maybe but its not on the approved list as they dont want to pay the $$$$$$ to have it put through the approval tests.

Yes change the filter and sump plug as for $35 its not worth the angst of not doing it.
Why would you put 3 l of clean oil in with a litre of dirty stuff plus a dirty filter.

    Any 504.00 spec oil.
For the sake of ~$20 always change filter & sump plug washer.

    Hey guys,

Been burning a bit oil since I got the car 3 months ago. So far I've filled an extra 4L in to it of Penrite Enviro+ 5W30. Its had about 5 long hard drives in that time. The oil light only came on once ages ago, and the rest of the times I just checked, it was at minimum so I filled it to max.... Anything suss? No oil in the driveway...

I saw this below on sale at Supercheap today with their Bathurst promotion. Has anyone used it and is it worth it considering ebay has the Penrite Enviro+ 5W30 for $65?

Just be aware that there are 4 Penrite Enviro +5w30 engine oils, but only one has VW approval for VW504.00 .
You could try Enviro +5W40 it has approval 502.00 and 505.00 . It could resist more to oil burning.
