No link between the two lights.
Best bet is to book it in to have a diagnostic scan, and go from there.
I just noticed this yellow warning light. It is steady on as I drive. Any reasons to worry?
My Tiguan is TSI 125, old fashion Auto, 2010 model. It has 55,000 km - last service at 50,000 km a year ago.
Interestingly, a few days ago - before the engine light started - I had a low oil light. The dipstick was showing Min, so I added 1/2 litre and it is now midway between Min and Max.
Could there be any link between the two?
Is it possible that engine light is just a routine emission control warning? There are lots of YouTube videos how to reset this light (not for VW)
Any advice would be appreciated.

There is a link.
After I added oil and checked the dip stick, I must have got distracted, and when I came back I closed the bonnet without closing the oil refill hole.
The cap did not get lost - I have driven only a few km like that.
However the warning light is still there, but I am pretty sure it just needs a reset.
error codes need to be cleared with VCDS
If I remember correctly there is a "register" that keeps track of the last 5 or 6 times the sensor registered an error. If you turn your vehicle off totally (key removed from ignition) and start it, then turn it off and remove key, then repeat a half dozen times the light should disappear from the dash if indeed the sensor is no longer registering a fault. If the light is still on once you've done that you really need to get a diagnostics run as Umai Naa!! said. In fact, it's probably worth doing anyway just to give yourself comfort there aren't any other looming problems that you can proactively address.
