Whilst not a Tig owner we do have the DSG in our Van , maybe its just me but I am not that convinced this technology is so good . I have read so many reports on VW forums about DSG likes and dislikes and will add my concerns . first descending down hills it "holds" the low gear and the result is the engine is revving its tits off , flick across to manual model and upshift is just an inconvenience . Trying to over take someone can result in not enough power at the most critical moment again shift to manual . Last the hesitation of the down change when approaching intersections and roundabouts resulting in a momentary lack of response . As I said is it just me or do others think that if the answer to shift and gear selection is fixed by changing to manual mode then the DSG is a failure . Our previous auto the Tiptronic never displayed this problem at all power was there instantly and never ever needed to change to manual . VW are to be commended in building their cars to be economical but not at the expense of driver confidence , and please don't tell me I should adapt to this technology VW should stick to a one ratio speed auto like the good old days not 3 types of gear box in one its just asking for trouble IMO.
