I will have to try and put this thread into a couple of posts due to it's lengthy nature and the invariable timing out of submitting a thread.
I am the owner of a MY201 tdi Tiguan with the 7 speed dsg gearbox.
Twice in the last couple of days i have been subjected to an embarrasing and potentialy dangerous situation driving my Tig.
Scenario 1
Pulling out of a commercial premises driveway toturn right and cross over the oncoming traffic.
There were no cars within 75-100 metres of me so under normal circumstances it would not have been a problem.
I entered the lane to cross it when the Tig just stopped dead, engine still running ,in drive but zilch forward motion.WTF?
The first oncoming vehicle came to a screeching halt nearly t boning me and the angry driving blaring his horn and giving me the finger.I couldnt work out why the my car wasn't moving, lifted foot off throttle re applied and the tig took off like a startled rabbit across the road.Scared the hell out of me!
Scenario2
Yesterday was again pulling out of a commercial premises turning left onto very busy GT Eastern H'way.
Got 2/3rds into the turn into the left lane cars about same distance away as in the first instance and the Tig stops dead again.I wasnt even game to look into the rear view mirror to see what sort of re action I was getting.Same deal lifted foot off thnrotgtle reapplied and the car took off again. Bloody crazy!
I then drove straight up to my VW independant guy who did a diagnostic check on the computer but which showed no errors. We took for a drive around the block but as is always the case the problem didn't rear it's ugly head.
This vehicle has only done 15500klms and has been serviced according to it's schedule.
THese two occurences has shaken my cofidence in this car and I at the moment dont feel comfortable driving it.
Umai Naa for your attention.
have you been aware of any similar problems in the past with this spec vehicle. In my opinion it could be a potential life threatening situation.
NOt Happy VW!!
Phil.{ thanks for your patience fellas.}

you may like to explain to others asking above as to what the problems were, seeing as how you took it upon yourself to delete my next two sections of my original post because i had commited the mortal sin of double posting.

I have nothing to explain, you've posted 3 threads on the same topic, not saying the reason in your first post. Here is what you’ve wrote:
Instead, you should start typing that you have had the technical problems typing the message.
I deleted the 2 last threads you started and left the original thread, you can still edit the original post; the first one in this thread. Alternatively I could move the text to your original post when I’m less busy (the 2 deleted posts are undeleted and locked for now).
Just remember; It's one of the feature of this vBuletin that it auto saves your text, so when you experience difficulties and your reply disappears or window closes, you can go back to that thread and click on restore saved text and it's all there.

I have a 2009 Skoda Superb with 6 speed DSG. Have same issues including in reverse. Had a couple of narrow squeaks turning across traffic but my dealer shrugs and says there are no identifiable issues. To deal with it, I follow your technique...foot off throttle for a tic then back on and away!! Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened. And doesn't happen all the time which is confusing although I'm apprehensive and also ready for the problem. One of the service problems is that mt dealer has sold few Skodas and lots of Audis so I guess the service staff have less experience with the Skoda issues.
As a DSG owner, I am also concerend about the reliability of DSG.
A workmate of mine has a MY10 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro with 7 speed DSG (with 350Nm torque so I assume it is the same wet clutch unit as my Tiguan), his DSG performance had degraded considerably before the 2nd year service (less than 30000km), frequently experienced loss of drive and then sudden launch in unexpected circumstances.
He went through lots of hassle and frustration with Audi dealer workshop to have it fixed, and three unsucessful firmware upgrades later, Audi eventually replaced mechtronics three months ago. Now with 9 months of factory warranty to go, he is unsure if the car should be kept for longer with an extended warranty.
I hate to be in the same boat as him in two years time, but I am slowly getting ready to make the hard decision should that day comes, bite the bullet and go back to boring Japanese car.

To philsan!
All fixed now. No hard feelings.
The posts from the deleted threads were moved to your original (first) post. The above deleted posts are not related to the topic of this thread and tigger73 post was just a copy and paste from the 2 posts that were closed. No vital information was lost.
To all!
In a future, if you guys have a problem posting, don't start another thread with the same title, instead, send me or any other moderator a PM. I don't have always time to read the multiple posts and investigate why on earth have you posted 3 threads with the same title?

I've just had a thought. This isn't the old left foot braking issue is it ?? In the 6 speed non-dsg auto if you leave your foot on the brake even fractionally the car "may" just refuse to move because it is getting one signal to GO and another to STOP so it decides to stay in STOP mode until you release BOTH pedals and THEN decide which one you're pushing. When this first happened to me (in a previously owned Kia Sorento) the dealers spent hours looking for an intermittent fault until a wise old mechanic said "do you sometimes use your left foot on the brake when pulling into traffic" ?? (I used to do that so I could GO or STOP depending on what was coming). He then explained that a fly by wire system can get confused about what to do and the default is DO NOTHING !! I didn't initially believe I was doing it but a few trials soon showed I was the cause of the problem. No fault was showing up because there WASN'T ONE !! (except maybe a loose nut behind the wheel !!!)
Cheers
