That doesn't make sense to me?

As krracing said we all have the same tsi engine with the same k03 as the gti. If you whack on a k04 you can run the same boost and get the same power as the gti.

Where are these 'general consensus' people who have all gone stage 3 on Tiguan's? I'm struggling to find anyone that has anything other than a chip. I only know of Team V and some other bloke o/s who have stage 2. I'd love to hear from stage 3 Tiguan owners, if they exist.

The K04 turbo does not bolt onto the Tiguan TSI engine, it needs extensive machining to make it fit.

The power output is OK if you do it, but not really a patch on what the stage 3 setup is.

I suppose you will spend considerable money for half a job, why not spend more & put 285kw & 430nm in it! My own GTI with the stage 3 is absolutely awesome & perfect for every day!

Both would realistically require a clutch upgrade for longevity -especially with the AWD traction.

Only my opinion, but I know APR have tested the K04 & stage 3 back to back on the same engine & came to the same conclusion.

    Thanks for the update Guy.
I had heard that it wasn't a simple bolt on solution and you have clarified that for us.

Would the GT28RS be a suitable upgrade if someone was to go Stage 3?

From what i have seen the K04 GTI cars are doing just fine in the power department - 240kw or so but yes i realise the stage 3 kit is quicker. I'm not overly power hungry with cars, i ride a litre bike more than i drive a car so my own needs is just some 'peppiness' not godlike oomph

I am not sure i'd want to put 285kw through my own Tiguan. I want it to last 200,000km (about 4yrs) before any major work is required and i fear a stage 3 kit from the get go would kill it before that. My wife will divorce me if it blows up in 1-2yrs. I was thinking the K04 might be a compromise between stage 2 and 3.

Now it's been clarified that the S3 K04 isn't a bolt on i'll probably not bother going past stage 2, but who knows. I agree with you Guy buying a K04 kit isn't really worth it when the GT28 kit is a fraction more.

Hey Guy, since the tsi has a better fuel pump already does this mean when you fit the air intake and downpipe APR load on the stage 2+ software?

I have the Stage 2 software with only the intake and downpipe fitted.
This is most likely going to be enough for anyone's needs.

Plenty of fuel on the TSI even for stage 3 - thats a big advantage on this motor .

To be honest, if you go drive a K04 car & then a K03 car (like same MK5's for example - a regular one, then a Pirelli) - the shift in the powerband is underwhelming (same as Golf R vs new GTI). -the Stage 3 is dynamic - but you really need to decide.

Once you drive stage 3, you will never go back - and the drive train will be fine - as long as you don't want to be a drag racer!

If you bothered to have a look on VWVortex you would see plenty of Stage 3s on Golfs and S3s, why does it have to be on a Tiguan?

You need to settle down a bit chum and realise that some people know better than you do and just because they say what you don't want to hear doesn't mean it's not true.

What price do you have on a jig manufactured stainless steel mandrel Tiguan 3" downpipe with 200 cell metal cat that you are comparing to ours?

Oh, P.S. we have not released any prices yet.

Just trying to understand your post.....

Here is a review on the difference between K04 & stage 3 on the TSI with the Quattro platform & the DSG Gearbox (pretty similar to the Tiguan).

Best thing of all - they use the Aussie developed / manufactured downpipe
