    Door strips for the Tiguan?

Hey am interested in your opinions on these VW door protector strips, haven't seen them on a Tiguan here?

Also don't remember seeing it as an option?

    Looks good here - http://www.mytiguan.com/viewtopic.ph...=5840&start=45

We never got them as an option.

I believe they can only be sourced form EU but they cost quite a bit and shipping is also extravagent due to their shape.

    Do you like them?

The doors do look pretty open to abuse in car parks because of their shape, plus I think they look really cool, gives it a kind of muscular look.

Do you think local VW dealer could order, paint and fit them?

They do look good on the tig and would provide minor protection, howerver the major problem would be from other cars with lower doors (since the tig is a lifted softroader).

I don't think it will be worth the extra money but you could ask your dealer if they can import them.

Otherwise you could see if they are on OEMPlus or ECStuning and get them brought in, painted and fitted.

Could these trims be imported via VW Aust. The baggage hooks I ordered came from ex Germany so if we knew the part Nos I could ask my friendly spares man tomorrow as I am picking up a bonnet protector. Possibly VW Aust may not order them if they are not on the Aust car but these trims are surely not that special. I'll ask anyway.

I think these are the codes

    These are the part numbers:
    a. Driver's door: 5N0-853-515-GRU
    b. Front RH passenger door: 5N0-853-516-GRU
    c. Rear LH passenger door: 5N0-853-753-GRU
    d. Rear RH passenger door: 5N0-853-754-GRU

It's funny - I was just asking a dealer about these this afternoon. I sent them those VW part codes and the photos I had showing them painted on a Tiguan. I wanted to know if they could source them, otherwise it's an order from a group in the US.

They said the ones that they had were black rubber and not popular as they did not go well with the different car colours.

I see the point about the different height of the door relative to other vehicles, but I guess it depends on if it'll catch most of the knocks.

Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but how the hell are they fitted? Screwed on? Glued on? Also, what are they made of? Plastic? and then painted?
