Did I just buy a car that can park itself?

    Hi everyone.

I'm in the process of buying a Tiguan. The owner said that it does have parking sensors but that it doesn't have park assist.

This photo seems to suggest otherwise:

Am I buying a car from the future?

Second indicator is sensors in the sides of the bumper front and rear which measure the length of the space as you drive past it .

Cars with parking sensors only dont have these.

Sounds like the person just didn't know how to use it so assumed it didn't have it. As above if you see those side sensors it does for sure.

I didn't think the off-road button came on AU models, are you sure they didn't just add the buttons for cosmetics?

    wynnston,
they sure do. i have them on my 09 tig
it basically just remaps the accelerator pedal to be less "touchy" and controls down hill decents a bit better in loose/off road conditions.

I also have the off road button, again on an '09. I was told there is also a change to the no of pulses in the ABS control.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Off road function not available in face lift 2012 onwards Tiguans in Australia although the buttons are for a RHD model as the traction control button in on the RHS where as on LHD cars it is on the left hand side. OP says the Tiguan has a previous owner so I think it is a legit
