You will be pushing to get it before Christmas.
Mine took about 2 months from building to landing at Brisbane and then another 2-3 weeks for compliance and dealer prep.

U can get dealer to log into their system and bring up your order.
Shows the dates for every major milestone along the way from allocation to arrival at our port.

This is odd. In August I asked 3 dealerships in Sydney about Tiguan build to order wait times and was told 5-6 months (Feb 2011). That put me off placing an order (plus limited discounts still) and I decided to wait to see if the Yeti appears at the Sydney motorshow, if not to see if I can cut a better deal nearer Christmas.

Definitely that is the case if you're talking about a complete brand spanking new order. You have to join at the back of the queue.

But if there is a cancelled order or allocation not sold yet and ur dealer is willing to speak to VW to tweak the existing order to your specs (prior to allocation to production plant), then you've jumped the queue.

That's right. We ordered our 147 at the end of July for a Dec/Jan delivery, and was offered a cancelled order three weeks ago. The car is now at the dealership and due for pickup on Tuesday. The car arrived at the port on 9th Sept.
