    Dealer service problems

Had 60k service done last wednesday at major newcastle vw dealer. Got home and checked under bonnet. Liquid leaking from blue capped aircon valve. Tightened that up and called them. They said to come back for a check. Guy looked at it and said 'its ok now'.

Tonight noticed oil leaking from underbody tray right hand side. Not much but it must have built up enough to start running off the tray.

Heading to a mates to get some ramps to check it myself asap.

    Hopefully loose sump plug.

Is sump on right of tiguan?? MY12 132tsi.

Last time i ever use a dealer.

Could've been a bit of spillage from when the oil filter was replaced.

As always, if you're unsatisfied or there's a concern, take it back and have it rectified

Thanks Umai- hopefully you are right. I would normaly take it back - for the 2nd time, but there was no apology for the aircon mistake, just a shrug. I need the car for work and it is impossible to go back to the dealer and be without the car for another full day, so i either fix it myself or drive it until it breaks. Thanks Kloster VW

I've done 4 or 5 oil & filter changes on mine & the design is such that you don't spill a drop unscrewing the old filter, & even pouring a bit of oil into a new filter before screwing it on can be done without spillage (if careful)...

Was warned by another member here to not go there, try European Car Centre at Islington next time!

Hmm, some really leak a bit and you can spill some oil into the alternator if you're not careful.

Yeah, the upsidedown spin-on filters do still leak from time-to-time.

Especially if you're impatient, and don't let it initially drain.

Its not from the filter. No sign of new leakage there and it is obviously building up to the point of running out over the edge of the tray.
Bad night. Got the ramps. Got under car. Dont have right size tool to remove screws and warm oil started dripping all over me. Was going to use pliers and force but gave up and had a calming beer or two instead.
Took it back to dealer this morning and borrowed wifes car for work. Dealer hopes it is just drain plug seal. He didnt seem happy to have an unexpected and unbooked repair on his list. 'We are very busy today'.

Wifes manual toyota echo is a change from dsg tig! But she pays $200 per service and they never have a problem. I pay $1123 and get this.

Lol. I'll have to interview the mechs before each service to find out their level of motivation and training, plus ask if theyve been out on the piss the night before.

You do what you have to do.
If it was my car, I wouldn't be wasting the time driving somewhere while the oil is leaking out of the engine.

The car would go on flatbad to the dealer at their expense, after all every VW car sold has free roadside assist for 3 years.
