Just had 45000km service done and was $499 at local VW Dealer. Basically oil and filter change, new air filter and various checks. 0h, and fuel additive. Dealer does a pretty good job and no other Euro Specialist up here (that I know of) so don't got much choice. Don't mind paying bit extra as they are finally trying to resolve rattle issue that I've had from almost new! After pretty much stripping the interior and much to-ing and fro-ing with VWA, they found a TSB that recommends putting special wax in body cavity. Not sure exactly where, but they have to remove seats and floor covering to do it - glad it's still under warranty as would cost fortune in labour alone otherwise! Have to take it back when they get the wax, and part for fuse recall fix. Given that it has a few mods I'm quite glad they didn't just fob me off like I was expecting
They also picked up on split boots on "conn link" (rod with balljoint each end that goes from frt swaybar up to strut). Seems unusual given (relatively) young age, but would explain extra graunchiness from front end I've noticed lately. Wondering whether it might be a result of extra stiffness from Eibach springs and SuperPro lower control arm bushes?

Now I know they are rip-off scums, as there is NOTHING wrong with my wipers...at least there wasnt when I drove in there this morning! I can not beleive that they think we are stupid!

If my wipers had a problem or needed replacing, then I would have it done, but this is stupid!

Also, they were supposed to fix the centre consul that has broken due to their carelesness before (long story) I showed them this part when I made the booking several weeks ago. It should have beeen ordered in then so it could have been fitted today.

Now they say "it will be ordered and arrive from Germany. I will now have to go back in another time. It is a 4 hour round trip for me to do this!! Morons.
I'd actually asked for them to replace my wiper blades because was getting some streaking and lines (bloody sun up here kills the rubber) - luckily they didn't have them in stock as they were going to charge $155 (including fitting) just for front ones! They are admittedly better that the usual jap-crap or falcodore blades, but that's a bit over the top. Ordered them online (full set including rear) for less than half that. VWA need to adjust their pricing a little I think. Even the Haldex oil (in genuine tube) is USD40 from likes of ECS Tuning, whereas I was quoted AUD90 or thereabouts (couple of years ago when Aussie dollar much stronger against greenback admittedly. I feel your pain about the distance thing - before I moved here was 5hr trip each way!

Just had the Haldex oil done today: half an hour labour @ $60 & $83 for the oil. Gotta be happy with that, never seen a workshop charge out for just half an hour, would have thought there'd be an hour minimum charge!

60K major service being done for quoted $1200 at a dealership..... No DSG service on a 7spd as they are sealed for life....

Where the heck does the price difference come from between minor and major with no DSG service?

Brake fluid is changed every 30,000km or 2 years. So that would be $100 or so for brake fluid and labour. Then other things like your a/c filter which is about $40 etc. Also at 60,000km or 4yrs the Haldex AWD is serviced.

Gearbox sealed for life......that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I would get the fluid changed at some point soon.

DSG gearbox is not sealed for life and DSG oil should be changed at 60,000km. I've done mine early at 45,000km just to play it safe.

There are service kits available from a number of places including ECS (forum sponsor): Volkswagen Tiguan 1 4 Motion 2.0T Drivetrain DSG Transmission - 02e398000 - DSG Transmission Service Kit - ES#11968

Or if you also want the tools to do the job: Volkswagen Tiguan 1 4 Motion 2.0T Drivetrain DSG Transmission - 02E398001 - DSG Transmission Service Kit - With Tool - ES#259834

    OEM DSG Oil - recommended replacement every 40,000miles/60,000km: Volkswagen Tiguan 1 4 Motion 2.0T Drivetrain DSG Transmission - G052182A2 - DSG Transmission Oil - 1 Liter - ES#5244

I can't beleive the service department have charged you $1,200 and not changed the DSG oil.

The gearbox oil in any DSG unit can be drained and refilled. It is not "sealed" in the literal sense.

The DQ200 7-speed (dry clutch) has no service interval (i.e. "filled for life").

The DQ250 6-speed (wet clutch) has a service interval of 60 000 km.

The DQ500 7-speed (wet clutch) has a service interval of 60 000 km.

Yeah I know I thought 1200 was steep..... My Tiguan is MY12 which I think is the DQ200....should I still get the oil changed in the dry clutch one...

Also what is the most expensive part of a major service (excluding DSG service)....

    Thanks for all your replies..

I thought the Tiguan ran the DQ500 across the range?

Is it - as far as im aware. If olski1 can confirm which model Tiguan he has then it would help.
