I am writing a letter to my local council, the prime minister, A Current Affair, Today Tonight to let them know of my problems, hopefully one of them can assist me.
One day they'll introduce "lemon laws" (>3 times to fix the same problem, buy back car) into Australia, which will make the dealers more interested in solving the problem, rather than fixing the first thing that comes in to their heads, and pushing the car out the door.
Failure to properly diagnose in the first place what could only be a simple problem has caused no end of consumer pain.

Why don't you write to the RSPCA and Greenpeace because they're just as relevant as the ones you listed above
I'm not sure where the problems lies but it seems that there is some blame on each side and you need to work out a solution with the dealer/VW Australia. Sending letters around is absolutely pointless and you need to fully document everything that is occurring (ie left car parked with indicators in middle position at x time, no lights visible on outside car after locking) so you have documented proof.

I have already blasted the after maket retailer when the problems occured, manage to get the rear camera for free but in the end their sat/nav kept draining the battery.
And yes, i have documented everything that happens and VW Customer Service has too.
I am sending the email so that everyone knows how bad a service I am getting from VW dealer.

Thanks Maverick and NZTiguan for your reponses.
I am taking the car to Solitaire to test for a second opinion as per ACCC.

Yes, hopefully Solitaire can find the fault, otherwise I'm at a loss.
I was hoping to drive to Melbourne in the near future but I fear the car will not make it.
What was the aftermarket headunit you had installed?
I can't help but think that your CAN bus gateway may have been damaged by the aftermarket headunit, hard to tell without scanning the car but I would assume that the dealer would have picked up on any obvious faults with it.
Hopefully the other dealer will fix the problem, it may just need a new set of eyes to see the problem.

With all things there is always going to be an example of when things go horribly wrong and this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Don't get me wrong, this is a bad situation and I feel your pain, there is nothing like having a vehicle that gives you constant trouble that no one can track down.
At this point in time I think your heading down the right path taking it to an alternate place to get it checked over, but to play devils advocate for a moment the dealers can only attempt to fix what they can see/replicate, so as frustrating as it is, sometimes these things can take time. It would be nice if the dealer would just swap the whole car for a new one or at least give you an equivalent loaner while they track down the problem, but for lots of reasons thats not the most attractive of options to the dealer.
Hopefully you will get it sorted in the very near future, failling that I would suggest getting legal advice, something we can't offer. I'm sure there are plenty of experts in this field that can help you out (not that I can recommend any).
