I have a yeti and a tig and the boots are about the same. What the yeti gains up high in box dimensions it loses in rear overhang and door curve on the tig.

Well it's in a different class but am also considering Kia Sportage diesel, I've only read good things about them, cheap services and long warranty helps too.
Downsides are I didn't like the driving position much, seat doesn't go low enough for me as I'm 6'2 and it felt like my head was cms' from the roof. Drive was good though, 2.0 diesel was powerful and refined. Not sure if I could get used to the driving position though. The Tig has a way better driving position and seat adjustment

Regarding the Skoda Yeti, I'm sure it's s great car but it's looks are a little bus like for me.

Just double check that service costs, I know that Kia filters are quite pricey.

Btw. Does anyone have issues with oil consumption? Or was that the older Tiguans?

There are heaps of pages of excessive oil consumption in the golf 118tsi twin charger but in 75,000km I've never needed to add oil. So I guess it's luck of the draw?

no oil use issues on my Tig 147tsi.

45,000km on the clock, 4.5 yrs and i only need to top up 200ml or none in between oil changes (6mths interval). i used to religiously check the dip stick, now i only do it before doing a long distance (like brisbane to gold coast trip Considering new Tiguan pros and cons).

If you're looking at 125/132/147/155TSI then they're all essentially the same as Mk6 Golf GTI motor. It's not uncommon for these to start drinking a bit of oil later on in their life. My old 125TSI started to drink a bit from around 70,000km. It's not a major issue as such - just need to keep a bottle of oil and add a bit every few thousand km or so. In reality it's not a big cost if you have to add $10-20 of oil between services.
