I would get onto the dealer and tell them not to waste your time and to replace the lot. When one goes the others are often not far behind. It is not incommon for these to fail so not something to be overly concerned about.

Also I believe putting a new coil in that is not matched to the others may shorten the life of the remaining coils. Get the dealer to replace the others under warranty.

If you do tune the car I'd upgrade them along with the tune.

Another coil pack failure to report - number 3 on a Skoda Octavia at ~30,000km (not my car)
Prices quoted for a replacement pack were totally outrageous
We used one of my originals (I've switched to R8 coil packs) to resolve the problem
So easy to replace and back to normal operation

Just had my no:3 coil pack die for second time, first at 50k now 70k, this time they replaced spark plug in cylinder 3 as well.
Mine is APR Stage 1 and has been since 20k. i purchased a spare for $90 to carry with me.

Btw the cylinder numbering, is it left (no1) to right (no4) as you see it from the front of the car?

Tuned cars are known to kill stock coils. So next time one goes, do yourself a favour and get yourself a set of Audi R8 coil packs. These will fit into the 2.0T engine in all the GTI/R/Tiguan and are a lot stronger coil.

I have arranged a number of group buys for these but you can get these shipped in direct from the US (ECS tuning) for US$155 a set of 4. Last group buy these were going for AUD$140 delivered locally but if I organise another GB I'll have to look at revised pricing depending on what the exchange rate is at the time.

Either way your getting a much better coil for less than half the price you're paying locally.... and you can put your old set in the boot for spares.

    Tigger,
If you are getting some, put me on your list.

BMR Autowerkes is the place to go for these locally. They now bring these in from ECS and stock these in the country.

Better pricing than Group Buy also

    Hi guys,

I ordered a set of R8 coil packs from BMR Autowerkes which arrived a day ago or so in the mail. It didn't come with new set of spark plugs and I wondered if the OE plugs suffice? If not, what would be the recommended spark plugs for stage 1 cars and what is the ideal gapping?

    Many thanks,

    Taz

    Standard plug spec is fine.
