Sounds like it's coil pack month for the Tigs. Had one go this morning 2011 125TSI done 42,000km/2 years with Viezu performance stage 2.
Just did a coil pack today, cylinder 3. 2011 tiguan 147tsi with APR Stage 1, 50,000 k's, first problem since new 2 years old today.

Yoiks - might be time for a group buy on coilpacks fellas?!
Seems strange for these failures to all happen at once though. Hmmm, wonder if the fuel companies are watering the stuff down even more

Been thinking that myself and done a bit of investigation. A lot of the GTI boys are putting the red audi R8 coilpacks in and changing spark plugs. Apparently it's a fairly common issue when you go past stage 1 tune that the stock coil-pack just give up.
Anyone up for a set of red R8 coilpacks?

Yeah - red ones better (go faster)
Seriously though, good plan Tigger73 - obviously would be more performance oriented than our stock ones. What sparkplugs do they recommend changing to?

There's a few different types of spark plugs. ECS tuning sell sets with coil packs and spark plugs: Volkswagen Golf VI 2.0T > Engine > Ignition
Anyone interested in a set. I know I am.

The one with red coilpacks and bosch plugs? I'm in - hopefully won't need them (until I get tune sorted anyway), but cheap insurance I reckon

OK I'm going to order some new coil packs (series "E" red ones) just to be on the safe side as a few of the tuned Tigs seem to be having some failures and the poor old Tig doesn't go so well running on 3 cylinders. A lot of the tuned Golfs use these due to the (relative) high failure rate of the "stock" coil packs. Consider it cheap insurance to stay on the road plus the red coil packs look pretty cool.
Cost will be $125 pick-up/drop-off in Adelaide or add $15 for shipping Australia-wide.
There's a few other options available (Volkswagen Golf VI 2.0T > Engine > Ignition), though the spark plugs can be probably purchased locally for less (once you factor in the freight costs).
I'm going to place an order with ECS tuning on Monday so PM me by the end of the weekend if you want a set.

both my mk6 gti and tiguan have this part # 06H905115, instead of the red coloured one's.
Home Page > Search > 06H905115 > ES#2216599 IGNIT.COIL - 06H905115B
would the red one be compatible?
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD
Toyota 86 GTS Performance Pack Moon Slate - RWD
MINI Cooper S Clubman - FWD
The red ones are stock units from a lot of higher end audis (including R8 ). They are compatible as ECS are selling them as suitable for GTI and Tig and a lot of people have put them into these vehicles without an issue. If you're just running stock tune then the standard plugs and coil packs are fine, however if you're running a tune (and more so with hardware mods), the standard items can become a weak link.
Hence after one failure I'm replacing the lot. I'll keep the stock ones as spares and leave one in the boot should I get stuck again.
