Clutch Issue: what am i in for?

Hi all, like nearly all others, i'm still enjoying my car lots, hoping to get many more (currently on 88000) km's out if it yet...

It has been running flawlessly for around 30000k's since the engine transplant in early 2013 (timing chain tensioner problem).

On Thursday while making my way to Wollongong, the clutch started to feel a bit odd, & by the time i got there, was having a fair bit of trouble changing gears & was recommended a repairer by the NRMA dude that came & had a quick look. so i limped over to the recommended workshop & early indications are slave cylinder failure issues... (hydraulic clutch fluid visibly leaking). He was also talking about the dual mass flywheel & how that sometimes should be replaced at the same time...

Anyone out there with more of an idea than me with any advice? I'm well & truly out of warranty, & mainly drive with an amount of mechanical sympathy.

    Thanks.

Dual mass flywheels do commonly fail and going to a single mass may be a cheaper option with a permanent fix. However that will somewhat increase vibrations etc. If you want to do it on the cheap then all you should need to replace is clutch plate and slave cylinder/thrust bearing/fork.

Got my car back today, it was ready Wednesday, but Newcastle to Wollongong to collect had to wait until today...

Final diagnosis was a failure & leak with the clutch unloader unit. whatever that is?...

Was almost $150 in parts & a bit over $800 in labour. Ouch! Gearbox had to come out for fix.

Had an enjoyable drive through the Royal National Park this arvy to make sure everything is good, gear change actually feels a bit smoother, but that's probably due to mental justification after spending $950...
