I've got a Tig and love it but I bought my wife a Renault Koleos and it's a fantastic (and much cheaper) option, drives great and comes fully loaded, much better room in the boot and better for loading pram as it has a clamshell hatch.

Expensive and ugly as hell, but hey I'm biased. There's no doubt that the Tiguan is vastly better value for money !!

Lol, i knew there would be comments about the looks, i am still unsure in that department also but it definitely looks better in person that in pictures. As for price i've been told with corp discount i can pick an auto up for under $50k.

Maybe something to consider is service costs of the bmw, I know that my mum's 120d is pretty costly... and don't get run flats if they offer them (i don't think they do for the x1) because they are expensive and pointless. Otherwise let us know hoe it drives,i am really interested!

With the corporate program one of the benefits is complimentary scheduled servicing for 4 years / 60,000 km

Burtybear have you had a chance to drive anything yet?

If cargo space is not a consideration then the Tig is the car to buy - but there is not much more space than the Golf hatch. We are most likely going with a Golf wagon after looking at all the small SUV's

There are a few getting around here. They look much better in pictures than in the flesh driving along - the fronts look pinched and narrow, and the rear is worse. They look like a Korean ripoff of a BMW that's gone wrong

And you'd have to buy the 6cyl, I'd never, never touch a 4 cyl BMW.

You speak to soon clip .... next gen 3 series due Q3 this year will finally have a 4 cyl 2.0 turbo petrol to rival (and make more power than) the VW 2.0Ts .... and it will flow through to the X3s and X1s eventually.

Next 1 series (due 2012) with RWD and 2.0T will be the ultimate entry hatch .... probably even outdo the R .....
