Checking a new Tig147 prior to purchase

    Hi there,

I've just ordered a new black 147 with satnav, black leather, tints and park assist, and due to pick it up this week! Very excited indeed!!

During my test drives (1 x silver 125, 1 x grey 125, 1 x silver 147) I heard that strange swooshing, squirting, rattling noise during low rev acceleration on the grey 125, but not on the other two.

Therefore I've asked the VW sales guy to put in the contract that it's subject to a test drive of the actual vehicle I'm buying, and I'll be listening hard for any strange noises. I realise this noise can appear after several 1000 K's, but at least I can reduce the probability of it occuring straight off the bat.

Apart from that particular noise, is there anything else I should be looking for? Any other common manuafacturing faults that are annoying?

Thanks very much, and if all goes well I hope to be joining the Tig ranks very soon!

    Hey scotch.
I have driven quite a few Tigs now, and cant say that I noticed any noises like you described. Did any of these have roof racks fitted to the rails? These make some noises I have noticed... Also if the weather shields are not fitted tightly...
Just a thought. May be of track. If so sorry...
Hey has your 147 got the red dash instumentation or the white? (MFD display)

    Hi Tigger,

Thanks for your reply. Nah the noise definately comes from the engine system, but no idea what it is. It's really not so bad but I'd rather not have it if possible.

And I'm not sure about the colour of the MFD - I'll have to wait til Wednesday to see!
