    Change transmission shift points

Hi, I have a 2009 Tiguan 103TDI and I get a bit annoyed with the transmission changing down gears at high revs when I am braking. For example when going down hills (we're going up and down hills all the way into the nearest town) when I have to brake a bit, the transmission drops to fifth or fourth gear and revs go up to 3000rpm, and for corners it always shifts down to 2nd when it would be better to be in 3rd most of the time. As the gear changes are electronically set, has anyone had changes made to the parameters for when gear shifts occur?
    Many thanks

    Rod

P.S. Having the lever flicked over to manual gear shifts only works for up-changes, not down-changes - unlike our other car which will not override the manual shifting unless the driver was really labouring the engine (which I don't do).

My 2005 325Ci does it... Don't mind it myself as I am not relying on the brakes too much to keep my speed at legal limits as much. Isn't engine braking using almost zero fuel?

It's the 6 speed auto. I think that on most modern autos the shift points can be changed by someone with the right equipment/skills. I'll do some ringing around to some auto places this week.

    Cheers
