Central locking of Tiguan

Hi All,
Just a query about the central locking of tig. When i activate the door lock manually from the driver side, shouldnt it lock all the doors?? Cos when i tried it last nite, every door can still be opened from inside easily (forgot to try opening the door from outside). Is there anyway we can set/adjust the locking mechanism?

Is there any setting where the door will auto lock when the car exceed say 20kmh, preventing people from opening the door while the car's travelling. I did try this stupid experiment where my wife was driving around 40kmh and activate the central lock, I was still able to open the door at such speed

Central locking switch on the door locks all doors (handle inoperative from the outside, working from the inside)
(You can deadlock the doors (handle inoperative inside and outside) using the keyfob, but of course, this only works with the car off, key out.)
A setting option in the menu on the MFD (display in the instrument panel operated by the steering wheel switches) allows you to lock the doors (handles inoperative from the outside, working from the inside) when speed exceeds 15km/h.
Kiddy locks on rear doors allows you to make inside rear door handles inoperative.

I did read through the manual but wasnt too sure of what it meant by locking from inside and dead locking etc. so basically the door can be opened at any time (except when activate the child-proof lock for the back doors), regardless of speed you're driving at? then whats the point so central locking?? just curious....

If your doors are locked, then the car-jackers at the traffic lights have to attract your attention by tapping on the window with their gun barrel rather than just ripping the door open.
Auto locking is a standard US market feature, can even be activated on Commodores as they are(were) sold into the US market

not sure if it has changed on the newer cars but on our polo (2007) and jetta (2008 ) you have to pull the inside handle twice to open the door... first pull will unlock it.

Yes, the doors are not locked from the inside, but they are on the outside. Why?... so when you stop at traffic lights etc, no one can jump in the car, belt you over the head, kick you out and drive off with your new Tig! It's to stop people getting in, not to stop people getting out.
