My Tig is 1 of the last MY09 builds - May 09 - and had it fitted.
I meant did the dealer say anything about taking them out and putting them into the other car or have they just shrugged their shoulders and offered to replace them? Did they put the blanking plugs in their place (I gathered there is a plug there when you don't have them fitted?)

Pretty much the shrug and replacement after a half hearted attempt to say it wasn't a std fitment. Pointed at a MY10 to prove it was not there, and I pointed at another MY09 in there for a service to prove it was there as std ..... after which the shrug & replacement.

Seriously, a "shrug and replacement" of a STOLEN item wouldn't even be the START of what they'd be doing if this was done to me. Frankly there'd be absolute hell to pay !!!!!!!!!!

Time for a call to the TV stations to set these guys up with a car investigation with hidden cameras to see what other shifty practices they get up to. I am referring to Today Tonight or A Current Affair.
So I go in with a car mats, and they get removed and they say "not standard". What a load of lies. I personally feel this dealer needs to be taught a lesson. What they did to your car is like stealing your street directory, or coins in the money compartment.

I have had close talks with an ex VW Mechanic and he told me some stories how they fix squeaks in a brand new beetle with packaging foam. This same dealer's Service Manager even preached how bad VWs were made and that it kept the mechanics in a job and they were lucky for that. Can you believe this guy? The VW brand deserves better than the calibre of these types and should be ousted.

After all would you take your car back to this dealer ever again?

Not knowing enough about the new radio installation (ie did they have to take these plugs off to install the new radio/speakers??) but I reckon you'd be hard pressed to prove theft. The dealer would just plead that they took them off, lost them and hence just replaced them with the plugs. Lost is not theft.

But hey, I'd still be going for everything I could from the dealer with the threat of the "theft" word. Good luck.

I know that specs can change for different markets, but I own Tiguan S(09) which is the Base model in the UK and came with these bag hooks/luggage net retainers and the double use was high lighted on hand over..
I find it totally unacceptable that the dealer could remove something from your car because the manufacturer no longer fits it!!!!!
Up-grading s/ware etc or replacing recalled parts OK but defo not this..Its criminal..It has to be taken to the Top of VW,otherwise where will it stop!
Removal of your 18" wheels for 16"s cos they dont fit them anymore?????
Rant over, but you know it makes sense

Speakers are in the doors, no need to remove the trim as far as I know.

I have had my rear side trim replaced (the dealer scratched it fitting a tow bar) and the dealer never pulled that one on me.

Personally this petty behaviour seems to be all the more reason VW Aust should never have allowed the deletion of these hooks, it is just plain stupid. The hooks cost me $30, so for a wholesale cost would be say $10. They have to be screwed in at the factory either a plate or hook so it is about time they reversed their decision and fit them as standard. If we wanted a car with blanking plates we would buy a standard Ford or Holden.

Just checked my new-ish 125 Tig (7/09 build but dealer raved about how it was MY10) and it has 5 hooks - 2 chrome at the sides and 3 across the back of the rear seats - still accessible when they''re upright.

I'm with everybody else - sounds like theft to me.

You can tell if it's a MY10 if the dash screen is black and white

I'm pretty sure these aren't the hooks the guys are talking about. Have a look at the sides of your boot, up high off the floor, near where the boot flap comes down and rests on the side walls and I'm pretty sure you'll see a backing plate on each side....I'm pretty sure that's where the hooks are on the MY09 models that the guys are talking about. I have an MY10 and have the backing plates only.
