    Brake Pad Upgrade

    Hi,
Looking at entering my Tig in some track day events and looking for some brake pads that are a bit better than stock in resistance to higher temps and brake fade from constant hard braking. Quite happy with performance of standard brakes, just don't want them to fade-out on me at an inopportune moment (ie. Barrelling into hairpin corner)! Bearing in mind that I will still be using it as daily driver, so don't want anything that'll be too harsh on discs or wear too quick. Not too much dust would be nice too, but may be asking a but much.
Local lads use EBC greenstuff and reckon they're a pretty good compromise, however they don't list a pad for fronts (only rear) - can anyone confirm if the front ones are the same as Golf GTI and what series?

Remsa pads from GSL Rallysport (see sponsor section) are excellent. Higher temp rating than stock pads, low dust and rotor wear, no noise etc.

    Hi Lucas,
Yeah, been reading up on them and seem pretty good - was interested to find out whether anyone had used them on track. Definitely leaning that way at this stage though

I am still running stock pads so i can't offer any help on that other than echoing the suggestion of talking to GSL Rallysport.

I can suggest upgrading the brake fluid to a higher temp rated one.
I use Penrite Sin Dot 4 and it does seem to last longer at happy laps before you feel the brakes start to go off.

My preferred street and track pads are DS2500's from Ferodo.

With these pads you will find the fluid and the flexable likes will be the next weak points.

Decided to go with Remsa pads and DBA T2 Street series slotted rotors from GSL Rallysport - very helpful and reasonably priced (as others have said), although as the original brakes still have about 60% pad life and rotors still in good nick with no lips or warps I'll probly wait till I chew up some more and replace altogether then.
Entered the Tig in track day here on weekend and original brakes worked well with no sign of fade or anything. Only short track (about 0.9km) but very tight and lots of bends so gave them a good workout. Wasn't timed as was a "come and try" day, but was great fun. Only Tig there (only SUV of any description actually) and got a few strange looks but very impressed myself (and a few others I think) with how well it performed - even got a bit of 4 wheel drift action happening

I get the same looks each time someone new comes out to our Happy Laps sessions haha.
It really shows how much effort they went into for handling when you compare it to other more track oriented cars
