    Auto kerb function in reverse

Hi everyone, I am new here. Sorry if this has been answered before, but I have spent some good time looking through forums and websites but still can't find a solid answer in regards to this, for aussie Tiguan owners...

Here is the question. Have anyone actually got this "auto kerb function in reverse, passernger's side exterior mirror" working on their Tiguan here in Aust.?

I have read different opinions about this from different places. Some say you need to have folding mirror to work, and some say you need memory seats to work. Which they aren't avaliable here in aust. But if you look at Golf, Jetta etc, they too don't have memory seats or folding mirrors but yet this kerb function is avaliable on them. In fact, this kerb function comes with Park Assist in the Golf as an option (and standard for all Jetta's I think). I have Park Assist on my Tiguan, followed the instructions in the manual, but still no luck.

So just wondering if anyone here in aust, actually got this function working? If so, how did you make it work?

    Cheers

    Hi weekend

I also had a look - I got kind of excited when I read about the feature in the manual but ended up disappointed when I realised I didn't have it. I have the heated mirrors though, they prevent my tongue from sticking to them on frosty mornings.

    Cheers

I too have these but stuffed if I know how to activate them. I have the little demister symbol on my mirror adjustment knob but I can't rotate the knob around to this location??

You will be able to rate the knob around, it just has a heavier resistance so that you know it is being activated and don't accidentally bump it on and have the mirror heat up when it isn't needed.

I believe that the Vortex forum has some info about the dipping mirror.
From memory you have to put the car in reverse and set the mirror to have it work.
Will try to find the thread for you.

There is also this that i found on Mytiguan forums
from what i have read, there are a few things you also need to know. For 2009, it is hit and miss. Also, it is only available if you have the power driver's seat with memory. You have to keep the adjusting button set to the passenger side. To set the mirror, you have to put the car into reverse, then manually adjust the mirror to the position you want it to be in while in reverse. Then shift back into drive. The mirror should return to position #1. the when you back into reverse, it goes to position #2. It took me a while to figure out the logic.

Is that it? I mean is there anything you need to do to turn them on? I tried the knob and it rotated around but nothing else happened, like a light on the dash or anything to tell me the heated mirrors were on. Do you also have to have your interior demister's (front and/or rear) on also?

Just seems odd that the knob turns around but nothing else seems to happen?

You just have to turn the know around to the heat part.
    Nothing else.

Not really needed here as it never gets that cold.

It would be to melt the ice off for our friends in Canada etc.

i haven't got it in mine but figured it was because i have the rns510 with reverse camera. in our jetta it works well.
to set it the mirror controls must be selected to the LEFT mirror and then put it in reverse. This should activate the mirror.
I found that the manual for the jetta said it needed to be selected on the right hand mirror... but through trial and error got it to work for the LHS only.
The mirror will "almost" return to its previous position when you get above about 15 or 20kmh (going forward of course), but needs adjusting back up after a couple of operations.
As for the demister all you do is set the switch to that position. It will activate when the temp drops below a certain value... not sure if it has changed in later models but our 2003 nbc was set to about 5degC. Personally i would like an indicator on the dash to show me it should be on.

Here in Melbourne a few weeks ago, there was actually steam coming off the side mirrors with the side mirror demist function operating. Must be putting quite some amps through those mirrors
