Audi Q3 to be released in the EU Q3 2011

All-New Audi Q3 SUV to hit European Showrooms this Fall with 2.0 TFSI and TDI Engines - Carscoop

Audi has done an awfully good job in keeping its forthcoming Q3 under wraps, but it won't be long before the Ingolstadt-based automaker launches its smallest SUV offering. According to a inside source, the new Q3 will arrive in European showrooms this fall, most likely in September or October, depending on the market.

The insider also told us that the Q3 will be offered at launch with three powertrains, a 170PS 2.0-liter TFSI with a 6-speed manual gearbox and CO2 emissions of 172 gr/km; a 211PS 2.0-liter TFSI with an S Tronic transmission and CO2 emissions of 184 gr/km, and a 170PS 2.0-liter TDI diesel and an with an S Tronic transmission and CO2 emissions of 158 gr/km. More engine options will be added further down the line.

The Q3 will be based on the underpinning of the VW Tiguan, with the styling drawing heavily on the firm's 2007 Shanghai Motor Show Concept (pictured above). The new crossover model will slot beneath the larger Q7 and Q5 SUVs, targeting the BMW X1.

Production of the Q3 will take place at the Seat's Martorell plant in Spain.
Will be very interesting to see how this one turns out.

The Q5 was too expensive for me but if the Q3 comes in at a price similar to the Tiguan it could poach sales.
However they are targetting the BMW X1 so i believe pricing will stil be 10k higher than the equivalent Tiguan.

Also Audi have registered the Sq5 and RSQ5 names for future business.
The idea started almost a year ago with details surrounding two more variants of the Q5 - the SQ5 and the RSQ5 - coming out with good projected outputs of 333hp and 408hp, respectively.

be interested to see it in the flesh and the price point it comes in at

saw a X1 on the road the other day and must say I wasn't overly impressed, IMO i certainly wouldn't be buying it for its exterior looks, it looked more like a slightly raised wagon than a small SUV

the x1 looks Ok from the rear, but the front is pulled in too tight. Looks narrow and high, they missed it big time on this one.

The Q3 should be ok. Be interested in that when it arrives. Only problem is I reckon it's going to be a bit of porker in the weight department compared to the tig.

I was at the Falls Festival about ten years ago when a sewer truck lost its footing in the wet, slid down a hill and squashed a friend's Pajero. The end result was that the Pajero was some 15cm narrower. Whenever I see an X1 I think of this incident for some reason. Maybe if the truck did the same to an X3 then it would end up looking like an X1, or maybe if you did the same thing to an X5 you could also end up with an X3.

Wow, I must be feeling cynical this morning...I actually like BMWs quite a lot, it just feels to me that the X3 and X1 are almost afterthoughts; and entry into a niche in the market 'just because they can'.

It's a long awaited competition to Daihatsu Terios.

I'd be surprised if it was only a $10K premium, for a vehicle that has an exceedingly similar drive train and feel to the Tig, with the signature Audi interior.
