I don't mind the look, not sure where this fits in terms of vehicle class and I'd probably never buy one (would consider a Q3 RS though ), but it looks better than the X1 and other smallish SUV/CUV's

Bit of an update from my morning car news browsing.

Autobuild was attending the press release of the Q3 launch and got to drive the car.
They also found one in RS guise sporting the 2.5L I5 engine from the TTRS.
Could be a pretty potent package but would cost a bit more than the standard models.

    Q3 rs

    Done some research now ..... 225kw 2.5TFSI in the Q3 ......

    And we already know APR's 2.5 TFSI stage 1 = 300kw/620NM .....

If that comes to Oz I'm buying 1 for sure .....

It would be apretty potent machine.
Plus it should use the magnetic suspension from the RS series and getting it with the DSG box would allow for much smoother use of power.

I could see this selling well but it would cost closer to a 70k price tag imho.

I'd say if it only cost $70k, it'd be a f'n steal. Being even the S3 costs that, an RS Q3 would have to be closer to $100k

Base Q3 is coming in at 45k apparently so i am guessing probably double it for the RS version then add on Luxury car tax to bump it up to the 100k figure.

What more proof that Audi is seriously considering the introduction of a high-performance S or RS version of its newly launched Q3 compact SUV than the creation of a prototype model shown at a media event?

According to the folks over at Sweden’s Sportbilen, the prototype was uncovered during the European press launch of the new Audi Q3 in Zurich, Switzerland. And mind you, this wasn’t a static presentation as the media had the chance to drive the pre-production model on the road.

The high-performance Q3 is said to be fitted with a de-tuned version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine found in the RS3 hot hatch and the TT RS sports models, delivering 300-horsepower instead of 340HP. Power is transferred to all-four wheels through Audi’s quattro system and a 7-speed dual-clutch S-tronic transmission.

Watch the super-Q3 in action in the video below.

    I REALLY really love it!

The styling and interior finish seems much classier than our Tigs.

Also love the exhaust note and the choice of colours!. The Orange is very nice indeed.

When they land here....def worth a test drive...
will all come down to price I guess.

As for it being based on the Tig fundamentals....I guess we go from the budget start of the range in the Skoda Yeti, through to the Tiguan, through to the Q3...All based on same begginings.

Yep, viewing from the side Q3 looks like the Tiguan. Wouldn't mind it in 125kWTDI, but as usual, the options will be much dearer than options on VW or Skoda.
