    APR and mechanical NVH

    Hi all,

Here is a question for those with APR stage I upgrade. Does your car have a higher level of mechanical NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) after the upgrade, or put it simply does the car feel somehow "loose" mechanically?

In my opinion, Tiguan has the lowest level of NVH compared to other similarly priced SUVs, it feels tight, solid and quiet, and for this reason alone I'd prefer Tiguan over the much hyped CX5.

    Thanks in advance.

I had Stage 1 and it made no difference to the NVH at all.
Stage 2 has almost no difference to the NVH as the rear muffler is quite good at reducing noise.

The torque arm insert gave me a lot of vibrations at idle or in reverse so i went back to stock.

The air intake gives a nice whooshing noise but isn't overly noticable unless you are waiting for it.

I have found that there is a 'raspiness' of sound under acceleration that did not appear to be there before the APR tune. I am not talking about under heavy acceleration, but all the time. It sure sucks some air when you give it the boot, but this 'raspy' sound appears to me to be a new one. It doesnt particularly bother me, but it is there. If that is the only cost, then it is very cheap indeed, because the tune is truly awesome and the best upgrade I have had on any vehicle over more than 35 years of vehicle ownership

    Cheers

Thanks guys, good to know NVH is not affected by the tune.

How will a DSG Tiguan respond to the increase in power I wonder, I guess 'S' mode will be a bit too enthusiastic for the city, but will the normal 'D' mode be a nightmare to drive especially trying to take off from a roundabout or a give way sign quickly (the usual 2nd gear acceleration bug)?

Is it fair to say the tune will bring out the worst of the DSG transmission, and that flashing DSG should seriously be considered as well?

I believe the DSG box is rated to far higher power levels than we are getting out of our APR stage one tune. I think I read somewhere that is utilised in the smaller version of the audi A8

Sorry to hijack a thread but has anyone noticed/know why the downpipe no longer appears on the apr website for a tig?

Given the increase in the power/torque is substaintial in the lower rev range, will the DSG in 'D' mode be less town friendly than before, i.e. too jumpy or change up a gear too late?

Because they don't sell it anymore. I asked a month or so back and it has been discontinued.

And they don't even have any kicking around out the back - asked that too.

Good news is that Veizu are on final testing of their hardware and should be released in the next month or two.

I'm just waiting for their hardware to be ready before organising a tune as I have a later model tig and the ECU has to be removed to tune... only want to do this once if I can avoid it.
