Hi all,
Just posted a new WTB in the classified section, NSW WTB - Stock 16" Tiguan wheel, and wondering if anyone has a stock 16" Tiguan wheel for sale?
Cheers

Hi mate I also have a brand new rim for tiguan but note not the latest 2012 style rim.
My rim is the 2010-2011 type if that's what you are looking for.
I am in Perth but happy to ship it to you if you are prepared to cover freight charges etc.
Regards

I've tried finding spare wheels for the MY12 Tiguan with no luck in Australia. Have tried Gumtree, eBay and on here.
There are plenty of 16" wheels available for the previous years, but the MY12 onwards is fitted with "Portland" style rims. These differ by having the five pairs of "spokes" join prior to reaching the centre, rather than the "San Francisco" design which has five pairs of spokes parallel all the way to the centre.
The dealerships I've called quote a single Portland rim at about AUD$680 without the tyre. I've got Bridgestones originally fitted to mine, and VW doesn't cover that cost.
After looking in Australia, I've looked internationally on eBay and online shops. It's very hard to find a place that stocks the newer design AND ships to Australia. The European eBays have plenty of Portlands, but don't ship outside the EU.
I ended up finding and buying a brand new Portland 16x6.5 rim from the US and it is currently being shipped. The rim is USD$300 and shipping brings it to roughly AUD$420 total. I found a brand new Bridgestone tyre to fit the ones I already have for AUD$200, so overall still cheaper than doing to the dealer.
Will let you know here if the shipment actually arrives *fingers crossed* and then I'll post the place I got it from.
I want to use this rim and tyre to replace the space saver spare for a couple of road trips lined up for the end of the year where I'll be covering about 6,500Km. The last thing I want is to hobble at 80Km/h on a space saver and make for the nearest garage!

I wasn't so fussy for the spare I just went with a non-matching "stock" wheel. Though I have aftermarket 18" alloys on the car and didn't want a "fat" wheel under the boot as the stock wheel makes the floor higher as it is.

Anyone out there looked for an alternative, skinny, more 'roadworthy' spare? One that could happily do 100kph & fit under the boot floor slightly better than a stock wheel? Would be interested !!

I'd be interested in that too - or if anyone has "remodelled" their boot to accommodate a full size wheel. At the moment I just have the boot floor sitting on top of the full size spare which is in the same wheel well as the space saver but sticks up another 10cm or so.
I've toyed with a few different options - if I get around to it I'll make a new boot floor with a cut-out for the wheel and then stick the boot liner back on top.
I do some country trips with dirt roads so I really need a full size spare. I don't want to modify the existing boot floor or polystyrene insert as I'll put the space saver back in when I sell the car.

Another option would be to put the spare on the roof or the bike carrier. The later one was discussed in the forum while ago, so there is a thread floating around somewhere on the back pages or check the stickies.
