Anyone added door mouldings to their Tig?

New Tig arriving and I'm dreading the inevitable dings to the doors from the inconsiderate a$$holes in the supermarket car park.

Has anyone added door mouldings (assuming this is the right name for those rubber strips along the doors), where did you get them from, and did they stop the dings?

    Thanks.

    Hi PerthMTB,

I'm also looking at some extra ding protection for my new Tig, and some Ebay options are:

VW TIGUAN SIDE DOOR TRIM PROTECTION MOULDINGS http://r.ebay.com/kvvsen

Chrome Trim, Door moulding 6Stk http://r.ebay.com/ERMxd6

Not 100% sure about the look though - maybe a bit too 'stripey' with the standard lower door mouldings & satin chrome strip on the MY15 130 TDI Tig ...

Hi Guys, I've added some oem door mouldings imported from Germany. This will set you back $400 not including painting. Will post pictures soon.

    PIC's !!

My Tig has lived 2.5 years in Melbourne with 0 door dings & 2.5 years in Newcastle with 5... Had 3 repaired & are undetectable, but why, oh why can't people get out of their cars without opening the door onto another car ?!?! FFS??

Hi Suffolk, yes I'd like to see pics of the proper VW ones fitted to your Tig if you get a chance. Did they have the desired effect? My other car still gets dings on the door despite having rubber mouldings - the height suggests it usually large 4WDs that are to blame because their doors are above the mouldings on my low slung sedan.

And DonDubber, thanks for those links. Yes I agree the chrome ones look a little too much bling, and as my Tig will be a plain white one, I think the rubber ones would look best, and match the other plastic mouldings on the car. Nice price too! Let me know how you get on if you order some of those as its difficult to see the quality from the photos, and I'd hate to invest in a quality car and spoil it by cheap looking plastic additions!

Those plastic ones could be painted to suite your car ,you could paint them your self as there's plenty of special paints and undercoats and prime to do it your self

I sent them a quiery about painting. Them and their. Response was that they are already painted. Black. , so it would be easy to paint them in your cars. Colour.

Thanks Ian, that's good to know, though I actually quite like the matt black they come in, to match the other plastic mouldings on the Tig!

Hey Suffolk, just saw a guy on a US forum has added OEM door mouldings to his Tig - is this what yours look like? If so, they do seem to be a bit more classy than the eBay ones, and look like they wrap over the door panel crease rather than just sit below it. Have you got a link for where you ordered them from in Germany? Thanks.

And now also in white, courtesy of a UK forum...
