Thread: About to "sign on the line"

    @PMS
dont panic, you got a cooling off period - x days post the agreement. its the law, helps impulse buyers get in touch with google search bar.

from a transaction perspective, if you are after honesty @ dealerships, then its expected that you give it in order to receive.
Why would you be shopping at ACT when Sydney has several VW dealerships ??? one strong possibility: stock purchase. However, it seems that what got you to ACT wasnt so ideal , hence a deal was struck on WA platted car. etc etc.

Now you have discovered the forum and your eyes are wide open. PPl here are helpful and fast with responding,,, ACT is 2hrs drive.

mate, just tell the dealership (which ever one you choose to deal with) what equip you want on your tig and your best price, the rest is called negotiations.... if you get stuck, meet in the middle and wait for the delivery day phonecall.

End of the drama.... you will sleep much better that night. Happy VWing.

How true that is! For me, anyway...
I 'impulse bought' mine, discovered this place 4 weeks later & felt like a dill for agreeing to the paint & interior protection scam i mean scheme... Apart from that, still really happy with the purchase & dealership i went through. (Berwick).
And yes, the people here are all very helpful.

further reflecting others posts here, I dont think this really works anymore for a range of reasons, though I'd be happy to be wrong. However this is no comment on a particualr dealer, and there are exceptions
1 Staff turnover in most businesses means its unlikely you will be dealing with the same person next time around. Buyers themselves move too.
2 Servicing is not the big tie it once was. Rightly or wrongly a number of people are happy to or even prefer to have their new cars serviced by someone other than the dealer.
3 Buyers are a lot more informed with a lot of info freely available, (such as on this forum) and so are more likely to shop around and Dealer sales staff are aware of this too.

So for these and other reasons I dont think the sales-loyalty realtionship really works anymore - at least for cars, but maybe I am wrong.

Although I also spoke about building an ongoing relationship with the dealer etc...I NOW CHANGE MY MIND.

I purchased three new cars through a Sydney dealership in a three month period, and have now found out that other dealerships are so much cheaper for the ongoing service etc...

It seems to make no difference as to how 'good' a client you are, the loyalty does not work both ways.

I found out that we can get a 60,000kms service done for over $260 cheaper by going to another proper dealership! (see my reply in post called cost of Tig services)

However PMS, as we have mentioned earlier...although the price may not have been the best, it does have the features you want...and you do not have to do all of the searching again and again.....just a thought.

Guys, I struck my deal in the end... You've all been amazing. I went with a VIC dealer who has sourced a QLD car. It's the diesel model, has exactly the extras I wanted and 47k seems reasonable by comparison here on my new favourite website. Looking at the contract, I see the bluetooth is mentioned as non-genuine (795) and the tint is 'ultra plus' (540). Will these 2 items likely be similar to what I have seen in the showrooms?
Hope QLD cars aren't full of mould after the flooding!

Congrats on the deal. Those prices seem resonable for the tint. Do you "have" to get the tint, or is the dealer doing that? Dealer markup on tinting is a lot. If you don't need the tint on the day you pick up the car, you can always get it done afterwards for a bit cheaper.

    I agree with DreamensioN here.
If the tint is dealer fit make sure they do it for $250-$300 or say you will tkae it elsewhere.
I got mine done aftermarket in this range, VW wanted $550.

If it is factory privacy glass (greenish factory tint) then there isn't really anything you can do about it.

The prices themselves aren't so much my concern, as we agreed to a list of extras, on road, for 47000 drive away.
The way he split it amongst car, extras etc was a bit strange, but probably for their own tax/commission motives.
My real concern was the actual type of bluetooth and tint he is including... he has since clarified that the bluetooth comes from the VW 'parts department'. The tint itself is called "ultra plus"; wasn't sure if that was the same as the showroom tint, something less favourable or not. Is the green tint you mentioned above soemthing I should try to avoid? The reason tint was included is I secured 47 and insisted he throw in the car mats, boot tray, tint, MDI cables for USB and iPhone.

Can't believe I'll have it in less than 2 week Thank you all!
