2nd hand Tiguan price?

I've been trying to sell my Tiguan for 4 weeks after it finished its lease and haven't received 1 call about it. So that's got me thinking, clearly I've overpriced it or nobody wants a 2nd hand Tiguan. Details are:

2009 - 125tsi with stage 1 apr, manual, 100,000kms, full service history, extended factory warranty until 2016, extras on the car are leather seats, comfort pack, fog lights, tinted windows. Body is straight nothing wrong with it & 12 months rego.

My question is what is a realistic price range in peoples opinions?

The marked is probably flooded with the 4-5 years old cars.

Also I hate to tell you but telling people it's a manual with APR1 and 100,000kms is NOT something I'd be recommending to my friends. Rightly or wrongly people view a vehicle with performance mods as a risk as they assume that the owner has been "using" those mods and may have reduced its lifespan.

Redbook values it between $18,700 & $21,100. I'm happy to accept with a high km vehicle it's towards the lower end of that range. I guess I'm just surprised that 6k of extras when new doesn't increase resale later. For reference, I've been asking $22k expecting anyone interested would negotiate that price.

This is probably 1 of the few times I'd agree with Derek .... Advertising a Tiguan with 100,000km and APR is very unlikely to get any interest unless you plan on selling for $10K .... At which point I'd buy it

Deactivate the APR tune and remove any reference to it in your adds.

I sold my 2009 125TSI manual, 35K kms completely stock for $27.5K when it was 3 yrs old. I'd expect an 09 with 100k kms to fetch between $16k and $19k at the moment. Not a huge market, but I sold to a person who only wanted a TSI manual, so they are out there ...

Also, I had the same spec as you without leather but including VW towbar and rear parking sensors. And I detuned from stg2 to completely stock before the sale.

As Doctor Phil would say ............. "and hows that been working for you" !!! If the figures you're giving are correct I'd think you'd have to be talking an asking price below 20k and then negotiate from there. Unfortunately, while extras may help get a sale, they generally don't add to the value, and high milages really do effect people's thinking. Why did you buy it out of the lease ? did you think there was an easy buck in it ???

It's a pity you're having trouble, over here they're easy to sell and have the highest residual value of virtually any vehicle but they're all diesel autos, I got 55% residual on a trade in (they got just over 60% when they sold it) after FIVE years. Mind you mine was very low milage and so quite hard to come by.

So, don't worry about the cost of the resale. You go your financial benefits from the lease.

Last time i sold a car it took me 6 months. The first 3 monts I insisted a price at slightly below the redbook upper valuation. Finally the car was sold a bit over a dealer trade in price and below the lower redbook valuation amount.
