    2010 125tsi tiguan gauge swap

Hi! One day I was driving the car and looking the gauge to check the speed as usual. Then suddenly I was thinking how cool would it be if I can get to change the gauge hands from the stock red color to the blue color ones that featured in the mk6 Golf R.

Just wondering if I can find that particular mk6 Golf R gauge, is it possible to swap the whole gauge into my tiguan and make it work just like stock? Or would it be easier to just change the gauge hands?

FYI this is a very first time myself to think about modifying the car so I absolutely have no idea on modding it but I wanted to seriously learn about mods and how to make the car to drive better and look more cool. I really appreciated for the advice!

Changing the entire cluster is both very expensive and complex to do, as the cars key/immobiliser is coded into the cluster. I wouldnt touch it.

You can buy blue needles though: Tacho Blue Needles - r20 R-Line Look

Also some pics and info here: VWVortex.com - Golf R Blue Tacho Needles for GTI, 2.5 and TDI Golf models!

On looking into this further and seeing how many people have stuffed up their clusters doing this mod I think I'll pass on this one at this stage.... unless I can find someone that knows what they're doing and are going to warranty their work.

It could be a very expensive learning lesson otherwise.

    Thanks Lucas_R & tigger73!

Hmm fair enough.. I only know a friend of mine knows a mechanic that specialise into modding golfs but haven't had a chance to meet him in person, so just want to share my little thoughts and if it even can happen. But sounds like a lot of effort for a little=/ but thanks for the comments guys haha

Yeah just have a look at the DIY threads about the place and you'll see what is involved.

The tricky bit is getting the needles off and then back on without stuffing up the mechanism as it's pretty delicate.... then calibrating your gauges.

Plus you have to have the right tools to solder on/off the LEDs.

And reading the various threads there's quite a few people that have ended up stuffing things up.

Cheers tigger! Will definitely start the project maybe the end of the year since i have uni finals to tackle during November. So probably I'll start to look for parts in between now til December...

By the way i read the thread of yours about shaping up your ride.. Have to say all of that makes your ride looks awesome throughout.. From the window switches, the spacesavers mod, to the exhaust tune.. Wish i'll have more time in next year so i can build my own mod list too haha
