2.0 TSI Tiguan for p plate in NSW?

I apologize if this question was asked before, but I couldn't find the thread via searching this form.

Just one quick question, is the 155 TSI p plate legal in NSW?

Pretty sure the 147 Tiguan was prohibited due to being turbo. So I couldn't see any reason why the 155 Tiguan wouldn't be restricted as its still a turbo. This only applies to under 25 year olds.

Check out this link on the RNS (RTA) website you can apply for an exemption.

According to this ... the Tigs could qualify for an exemption:

P1 and P2 vehicle and passenger conditions

But list hasn't been updated for current models:

So best to check with RTA:

Best off baling up the Roads and Maritime Services (the new name for the RTA). As has been said you should be right for an exemption, but it's always best to ask.

    Says on the RMA website:
An exemption from the prohibited vehicle condition may be granted if:

*A prohibited vehicle needs to be driven for genuine employment purposes.
*Eight or more cylinder 4WD vehicles are required by country drivers who have no practical alternative.
*You can prove direct ownership of a prohibited vehicle prior to the start of the scheme or before an overseas/interstate licence transfer.
*The vehicle is a moderate-performance turbo/supercharged engine vehicle.

    Volkswagen 1984cc Tiguan 125TSI, 132TSI, 155TSI and Passat 147TSI
There was also exemption available if you could prove it was the only vehicle available in the household.

I don't think age comes into it - that is for carrying passengers.

    What a mish-mash of a web page.

Very confusing IMO, where octavia RS wagon 0-100 7.5s is not allowed, but 0-100 7.3 Tiguan 155tsi is allowed.

Going to be *very* interesting to see what changes after Ford release a 4 banger turbo in the Falcon

True. But it might have to do with positioning as well. The RS badge probably made it an easy target to spot.
