    132TSi Oil leak.

Been lurking on here for a while and helped me make a decision in buying my Tiguan. So thanks to all involved in that

My 132TSI (2012) has developed an oil leak tha tappears to be drippin gon to the belly pan then onto the ground. I've had the car since Nov '11 and it has 45,000k on it. I have been having to top up the oil at approx the 12,000k interval and putting one litre of oil in between services (which the daler has been aware of) so it's not massive oil loss. It is going back to the dealer in May to have it looked at, but want to know what it may be so they can at least have the parts available as I have to travel some distance to take it to the dealer.

Having an oil leak before 45,000k isn't exactly comforting. If it was my old falcon I'd understand! Has anyone had any similar situations and could possibly enlighten me on what to have them order so I'm not without the car for 3-4 days?

    Hiya mate.

As far as i can ascertain, not many, if hardly any leak oil. Although mine was diagnosed to have a leak in the rocker cover gasket (sealant). I wasn't using any oil & none was dripping onto the plastic belly pan/bash plate. Just had a bit of a smear along the base of the rocker cover & that's it!

It turned into a bit of a saga as it was repaired & given back to me not quite finished & oil went everywhere. Apparently they wouldn't normally don't do that sort of repair on a Friday . Resulted in me having to take my car back to have it re-done, which took a full week...

    Good luck with yours...

    132TSi Oil leak.

So many things it could be. Is the leak at the back of the engine or the front?

If at the rear, it could be an oil line to/from the turbo. I know theres been a few reports of oil drain lines from the turbo leaking on various VW engines.

I haven't had to add any oil unless it was at teh yearly service interval and have not noticed a leak anywhere.

Doesn't seem like a common problem for the Tiguan.

I had an oil leak recently, similar appearance, belly pan covered with oil then drip to garage floor. Dealer traced it to Camshaft Control Valve, replaced under warranty. They weren't very concern with the leak and told me car is drive-able whilst waiting for the parts to arrive. Apparently pretty common in TSi engine. Hope that helps.

It turned out to be a sump plug leak from the last service too. Can't say I was too impressed at shoddy workmanship, but at least it was major.

You need to find a mechanic whom you can trust to work on your car, not some apprentice at a stealership.
I've heard a case that a perfectly fine car went in to do a minor service come out with a blown engine, the reason: they forgot to put engine oil in.
