Yes but then you wait and miss the car you wanted.

    I think it's a catch 22.

Though the car in Perth has to be more expensive as they will have to freight it across the country and this will add close to $1,000 to the cost of the car. You'd want to get it for a very good price, however I think this is going to be hard with the additional freight that has been loaded into the car.

The problem is that we don't know the pricing/options that are going to be available in MY15.

I know it's hard to wait when you've decided what you want.

im waiting to hear back on arrival times of the r but didnt think to ask about petrol vs diesel.

freight was 1.5 and he said hed do it for 800.

there are a lot of 132s around in leather and sunroof in black.

the demo is white and im not sure about white as I had my heart set on black. no idea why. i guess i think they seem more stealthy and less soccer mummy / lease car. and the bumpers stand out less in black.

Unless you can get a really good deal on a MY14 I'd be waiting for the MY15. I'd tell the sales guy that as well. If he wants to get the sale now he has to give you a really good reason to buy right now. VWA is offering discounts to the dealers to move these cars so there should be a lot more to play with.

Agree also a fully loaded car will depreciate faster as nobody pays for the options in a second-hand - just makes it easier to sell.

I wouldn't sign up for a MY14 car unless they were practically giving it away... I believe there will be a number of improvements in MY15 which would be worth the wait including headlight/tail light upgrades (quite possibly LED tails), upgraded steering wheel and head unit from the Mk7 plus R-line body kit which opens up a bunch more colours if you don't like the 2 tone/cheap plastics.

The MY14 will take a big hit in depreciation when the MY15 arrives.... so don't be too quick in signing up for a MY14.

Unfortunately I can't wait until next year for the updated body. And that won't be until late 2015
If I do I'll need new brakes and clutch on the current car or sell the current car and get a cheapie second hand one in the interim.

I can stretch till October for the r line tho.

The prices I've been offered so far aren't amazing but I haven't bargained as I'm not 100% committed to buy a particular model yet

If I can pitch in with my 2 cents worth:
In 2012 I bought a Tiguan155. I took the approach that although I wanted a very particular car (BLK or WHT, 155 DSG, biXenons, Leather, Sunroof), it was really the VW Dealers who WANTED my business.
(Afterall, my WA local dealer had responded to my particulars with ... "that's great, but I CAN give you a Blue one with cream leather and no sunroof for $54k").

I contacted a bunch of VW dealers Australia-wide and put what I was after out there. Long story short, I bought my beautiful Tiggy for 15% ($7.5k) BELOW list price. [Helps if you negotiate for a living ]

As tigger73 says ... with the new model due, they are looking to shift old stock so don't be afraid to negotiate aggressively.

Oh, and when I got my deal, the 155 was still relatively new (low numbers in Aus), and there was ONLY 1 BLK one (almost) in Australia (it was on a boat 3 weeks out) ... so don't let anyone tell you it will be hard to get a good deal because you are after the car.

Just remember THEY are after the sale ... make them work for it.

By the way ... I went for the 155 as it had DSG (because of world demand the 132 here was ONLY the 132 Pacific with automatic). There is a difference driving the two ... probably not something noticeable on a 15-20 minute test drive, even back-to-back. And without any mods, the 155 gives even a GTi a surprise!

    PS the biXenons are awesome!

    I'm pondering the TDI ($39,990) vs Pet R line 155TSI ($44,990)

extras for the 130TDI are $2500 RNS510 sat nav
    $3500 Vienna leather
    $2500 R line package

Both add $2000 for sunroof and $700 for metallic paint etc. privilege!

so in a nutshell $3500 more for TDI vs Petrol 155 R line

    cheers

This thread is really about comparing the 2 petrol models, and now the MY15 is out there's less difference as the 132 gets a lot of the kit that the MY155 used to have as standard (upgraded seats with tray tables, chrome trims and roof rails, RCD510, etc).

One of the biggest differences you will find between the 155 and optioned up 130/132 though is delivery time. I think you'll find that the majority of MY15 vehicles around at the moment will be base models without options. So if you're in a hurry you'll likely not have a lot of choice if you want to get the R-line kit you'll pretty much have to get a 155.

Otherwise I'd drive both 130TDI and 155TSI and see which you prefer. Petrol 155TSI will have more top end power and rev higher but the 130TDI has 100Nm more torque and will pull like a train (especially if you chip it ). Then source/place an order for the model with the options you're after. If you're after specific model options/colours likely it will have to be ordered from the factory as there will be limited options available in the first couple of shipments.
