Anyone aware of the service life of the timing chain? I asked my independent guy about it at 105000 & he seemed to think it was due at 120000.

No set interval.
Replace it when it rattles.
Thanks, Umai. How about the water pump? Limited lifespan? When did such items become 'consumables'... ?

Water pumps on most cars fail eventually. Some sooner than others.
The main reason you'd replace one prior to failure on a belt-driven engine is that you're usually a handful of bolts and 10-15mins of your time away from replacing the pump anyway.
^^^ ended up doing the oil filter service/change myself
took the car to ABS brake and clutch kirrawee and had all 4 brake pads, rotors and new brake fluid done for $840 , when i rang up about price the manager was well aware of the vehicle, knew about the electronic park brake and explained the need to put the cars EcU into servoce mode to release the brakes. very happy with the knowledge and service provided.
good outcome! thankyou for all your help and info guys
