    09G (6SPD) Transmission Service info

    Hi guys,

    Nearing 70,000KM's on the Tiguan.

Wanting to change the Transmissions fluid and filter.

    2012 Tiguan (6SPD auto non-dsg).

Is this the right kit to purchase?
VW Automatic Transmission Service Kit (09G, 6-Speed) 004242 by Europa Parts

Can't seem to find too much info on "proper part numbers and such".

    Appreciate any help.

also anyone know which fluid I should get for coolant? my coolant is currently purple, so G13 I'm assuming. How much do I need?

edit: jesus christ, shipping that kit is minimum $140 extra on top.

    Pan gasket is 09M321370A
    Trans filter is 09M325429
Oil is G055025A2, of which you'll need 5L.

Can get it all locally through OEM suppliers for roughly $160.

Coolant needs to be G13 approved. 2x 1.5L bottles will do the job. Can be sourced locally as well for around $20 a bottle.

I got a quote from my local vw dealership.

    $150 for the gasket alone.
    $150 for the filter alone.
    $265 for the oil.

    Uhmm....
There's filter/gasket kits online for around $110 and if I've read some posts correctly, you can use other ATF fluids which are not worth $50 a litre.

I'm considering Valvoline MaxLife Mutli-Vehicle ATF considering it's a fully synthetic oil and it meets oem specs: US_VAL_ML_ATF_EN.docx - SpringCM
    1l is around $20.

    $116 kit:

Nearly $600 doesn't seem anywhere near reasonable for the cost. What should I do?

So, if the above quote is not cheap enough.

IMO, you should put some money that you save from buying the cheapest you can find aside, for possible future repairs on your transmission. Though, you will need bit more than that.

I'm not sure what you mean?

$600 for a gasket, filter and oil is clearly a massive rip off.

I know a lot of people don't run the OEM ATF and was asking if anyone has any experience using a different brand that isn't $50 a litre.

Alternative oil needs to meet the specs.

Liqui Moly's Toptec1200 does, and is about half the price.

You also need to factor in how you'll refill the oil.

It's gonna my mechanics job. I'm just sourcing all my parts for everything I'm having serviced on the car.

Would you trust a filter/gasket kit like the one that I've linked?

The above quote was $160. That’s what I meant when I said “if the above was too expensive “.
