    Zenec 2011D

    Hi All,

I've just purchased a new Tiguan 103TD which I am loving. However, the lease company recommended an after market Nav/Radio/Media unit. At first it was fitted with an Opal unit which was fine apart from the fact I couldn't adjust the volume of the nav instructions relative to the radio. The company then put an other unit in, but it had awful radio reception. Ti try and sort it out they then installed a Zenec, which they said was top of the range and would be perfect. It's not.

First, the sound is distorted on the right hand side. I can move the speakers right over to the left and the radio sounds ok, but the nav instructions still come out of the right hand speaker (is that normal) and are really, really distorted and you simply can't hear what is being said.

Second, the maps do not automatically change from day to night. I've gone into the map setting and it is set to auto, but nothing happens and the only way I can change the maps is manually.

Third the bluetooth does not work. It connects and shows up on the MDF, but no sound comes out. My phone shows but a Zenec and a VW bluetooth option and I've read somewhere that they need to switch off the VW bluetooth, but does anyone know how to do that.

Fourth, the climate control screen comes on all the time when the AC is set to auto, this is really frustrating when I want to concentrate on the maps. Is there a way to turn this function off.

Fifth, is it possible to switch the radio off and just have the nav working?

The are coming back out Tues to try and sort it all out, but since this is my 3rd unit in a new car in less than a month I'm not that confident they actually know what they are doing.

    Thanks in advance

    Colin

We have customers that have switched from the Zenec units to the ANS810/ANS510 units.

Because it came as part of the lease deal, and hence I'm paying for it so for now I have to go with the unit the firm are fitting and trying to get working. They are coming out tomorrow and if it doesn't work I'll def suggest they supply me with an RNS 510. I just can't understand why these after market units are so troublesome. The web is covered with complaints about them.

    But thanks anyway.

    Hi mate,
I'm Martin from JKU Audi VW Upgrades. Get the guys to ring us if they need a quote for a proper new VW unit RNS 510. Your problems will disappear immediately and you will finally be able to enjoy your Tiguan.
My experience with aftermarket is good only with Alpine units - double din units come at a premium cost but offer premium quality and you dont need to worry about RNS 510 lookalikes which often dont function properly and are a headache with small niggles.

    Good luck either way.

Just a quick question to all NC2011D owners.

Do you get all the MFD integration you would with the OEM units? More specifically, do you get the same phone bluetooth screen on the MFD i.e the screen showing the network recpetion bars and phone name? Also, are you able to scroll through voicemail, call history and phonebook all through the MFD like with the OEM bluetooth?

    Thanks for your help!

I have quite negative experience with the ANS unit
It is another aftermarket unit that is a far cry from the original VW RNS510. Unless someone is prepared to lower hers/his expectation and ready to put up with many bugs and quirks the ANS units have, I wouldn't recommend it.

In that link to the thread that you've supplied there are many members who are complaining about the functions of the unit and the manufacturer's inability to resolve the bugs via the sw updates. Just read some posts in that supplied link.

To the OP; spare yourself of another disappointment and insist on RNS510 - there is nothing like a proper alternative to the RNS510 units, which brings up the question about the quoted thread title, which is very misleading.

    From my own experience;
I've bought the ANS710 unit, because I was told it was for the Touareg2 and also for the T5 just in case it didn't behave in our Touareg, but it doesn't fit in the T5, so... my experience cost me $550 and I can't even sell the ANS710 unit - nobody wants it. Our Touareg got the RNS510 instead and everything works as designed

I wish I've never bought ANS710. Well, such is the life, you live and learn.

Hi, can you tell me if the AM/FM radio scan and save function worked on the ZENEC please?
Also was the radio sensitivity OK?
    thanks
