Wires through firewall - 9N3 Polo GTI

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience running wires through the firewall in a manual Polo. When we did my friends Polo auto we went through the clutch cylinder grommet - no problems. In this, there isn't much room to move in the engine bay, let alone any room in the main harness to run another cable through (min 8 gauge, preferred 4).

    Anyone done it before?

    Cheers,

    Jon

4gauge should be easy Try 0AWG

Hmm... with my Bora I had to drill a hole near the ECU and make very sure that water couldnt get in, using the correct grommet and using automotive sealant. I than covered it with water resistant material like neoprene.

But If I had, had 4AWG my life would have been much easier as I could have used the wiring loom entry.

Your other option is to run underneath the car and enter at the boot... if thats where your amps are going to be. Make sure to encase the wiring in something like Armour Core...

Neither of those choices are appealing at all.

I might just forget it - throw my Alpine headunit in and a set of the new high sensitivity Focal splits (which means selling my current Focal splits )

Mate search the polo section as i know this has been found. there is a gromit
or something in wheel arch near battery, but you better read it from the guys who did it.

    Nice work - found!

In the passenger footwell, the left side kick panel comes off to reveal a grommet. The wire can be passed through the grommet, around and in behind the wheel guard (which you need to take off), and up through an existing hole at the top adjacent to battery.
