Based on my understanding (sorry I didn't read the long essay as I'm really bad with electronic terms and formula).
In layman terms, it makes a difference (only for that short instance) if your alternator is not able to supply the required current load (that's where your voltage will dip). What the cap supplies you is not sustainable if your alternator is not able to supply enough to charge it. The cause of the problem is the alternator, why do you need a cap for? Get a bigger alternator.
