Speaker Level only, you can turn the speaker level down through VCDS which gives a nicer signal to the amp. RCD510 and RNS are the same in that regard so no worries
done a search but found nothing i could use.
I have a 12.5 polo GTI with RCD510. im putting in a sub and amp and need to no the best place to wire in for sound.
is there a mod to attach RCA's? also im going to install a RNS510 very shortly so am i better of waiting till i put it in or can i tap into the loom somwhere so i dont have to rewire when i change head units.

My bad, thought you were adding speakers too.
Turning down the speaker level will affect all speakers that are connected yes, it's not really necessary if you're just doing the sub though. Best bet would be to tap into the harness at the back of the head unit (the rear speaker lines). I don't think there is any plug and play style harnesses that'll split it for you.

im going to change the spekers as well but not going to amp them (yet). i feel ATM the sound is a little tinny, distorts real easy and could use some better splits. its completly lacking bass. i just got out of a liberty gt-b with 14 speakers so anything going to sound a little ordinary i guess. i have the wiring plans so should be able to find the rear lines.
I'm actually quite impressed with the accuracy of the speakers in the Polo (when paired with an RNS510 with its secret loudness setting off), sure they can't really do bass (unless it's just the bass note by itself) but they have a nice flat response that lets you hear the subtle background effects added to songs. A nice sub would be your best bet.

I can't really say because my RCD510 was only in the car for half a day, it's in my mates Golf 5 now.
You can actually change around the equalisation settings in the RCD to a bunch of cars (Skoda Superb, Roomster, Seat Leon etc.) via VCDS. It does change around the sound and staging quite a lot. Not sure how they'd go with the Polos speakers but the Superb setting added a tonne of low down bass to his stock Golf 5 speakers.
These settings are in the RNS510 too but for some reason when i select them it cuts the sound entirely. But the RNS510 does just make a nice flat sound which you can then tweak with the sub volume and hi-pass.
