Thread: Where to get reverse camera in Sydney?

Question Where to get reverse camera in Sydney?

I just got a Golf MK6 last Saturday from a private seller. I want to upgrade to RCD510 and also would like to have a reverse camera. I live in western Sydney. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where can I get them coded and fitted in Sydney. I searched in the forum, the Lane Cove guy he's not doing reverse camera at the moment. I got a quote from a Ebay seller around Parramatta. RCD510 is $400, Reverse camera is $1000. Is this a reasonable market prices?

You should do more searching, you can land a RVC for about $500 but you will either have to fit it yourself or pay to have it installed

I really wish I could do it by myself but I really know nothing about cars to be honest. The RVC is $600 something, get it installed will be $1000 in total.

Have a look at the reverse camera thread in the MK6 Golf forums, contains some retrofit guides and QA. Even if you don't DIY it's still nice to know and even pass onto your installer. I just got a friend who's a bit of a jack of all trades to help me out with the wiring/soldering. Took us all day to build a loom (only to find we'd left a ready made on in the box) and get it working but I'm happy with the result.

Older RCD510's don't have the video-in connection as well so watch out for that.

If you don't mind straying from OEM you can consider what I have to offer

For what it's worth, you won't get a much better price for an RCD510 and OEM RVC purchased and installed locally at $1,400

Thank you for the information. I think I will stick with the OEM becoz I like Tom Tom's GPS. Seems like the deal is quite okay. I think I will go for the OEM.
