VW Touran 2011 Bluetooth Control Module & RNS510

    Hi All,

Need some advice and help, as I am looking at potentially buying a RNS510 for which i've understood a separate bluetooth module is required. (alternatively I can get teh RNS315, which has the bluetooth inbuilt into the unit).

The car in question is a VW Touran late 2011 2.0 TDI (UK), some people I have spoken to locally have said I need to get the bluetooth external display kit (Bury Kit), while some have said a module will work.

I've read the post in the faq/guides about the bluetooth modules and differences, which was a very good guide and insight for someone who had no idea about cars and bluetooth.

I looked in my Golf MK6 and found a bluetooth module (7P6 035 730 B) under the driver car seat (in a foam box). However I am struggling to find where the bluetooth module and it's connection would be in a VW Touran 2011 2.0 TDI (UK).... I've looked under the seat and there is storage compartment, so am struggling to find the connection, any thoughts?

Also it has the white mfd screen on the dashboard, and controls on the keys, so I'm assuming I'll need the 9W7 module? or a 9W2 (if i do not mind not having the add book function)

Look forward to any advice or assistance.

Not 100% clear on what your question(s) are but will attempt to answer..

Yes the RNS510 uses an external module which is located under the seat in the Golf etc from the factory.
If you want to know if the Touran has a bluetooth module already, try pressing the phone button on the steering wheel. If it just mutes the radio and doesn't give the phone menu in the MFD, then it does not have a BT module.
Alternatively you can do an autoscan with VCDS to see if there is a module at address 77 (telephone).
There are aftermarket units such as Kufatec etc. If a BT unit was retrofitted it could have been placed under the head unit, or somewhere else inside the dash.

    Kamold,

Sorry for not being clear in my questions, but seems like you've understood them

I checked the MFD menu and did not see any phone menu in the touran (Has phone buttons on the steering wheel and a RCD310) as I do in my Golf (which has a RNS510 and Bluetooth module), so more then likely there is no BT module in the car.

The other modules like Kufatec are coming out pricer, compared to finding a the VW BT module second hand.

I can pick up a RNS510 (no BT but has maps, which can be updated yourself I guess) for around £300-£350, where as a RNS315 (BT and Maps which have to be updated via VW SD card purcahse) I can pick up for £200, so just trying to figure out which to go for and confirming if I was to purchase a BT module VW one (around £80-£100), will it have a connection in my car, if so where.

The VCDS, I assume thats a software (which I've seen the name of around forums), will it require a special kit to connect to the car?

VCDS from Ross-tech is a commonly used aftermarket diagnostics cable and software for VW/Audi/Skoda vehicles.
It is used to diagnose and code cars for new features etc.

If you get an RNS510 and want BT functionality you will need to also add a BT unit. It doesn't matter where it is installed as long as it is correctly connected to the RNS and microphone. Different installers have different places in different vehicles they like to install them.
