I have the new Bluetooth, and while overall impressed with it's operation, I would like to use voice dialling with my Iphone. That is, not the car voice tags, but the phone voice dialling. My phone book is a few hundred contacts and just having several presets doesn't cut it. Anyone found a way to do this?

So the more i look at buying the 9W7 aka 9ZB on ebay, the more confused I am .

So, does anyone know the difference/s?
Looks like the BT controller has a different SKU than that of the polish one?

Which one would you get?
I am leaning towards the spainish guy because he has the plug and pray wiring harness included?

Any suggestions?

I think the Spanish guy has his listing mixed up... he's calling it the 9W7 kit, but lists the part number for the 9WZ in it.

Anyway, much of a muchness, you can get the 9WZ kit from the Polish guy too, but he doesn't include the foam cover (which is different to the one I ordered FYI). Also, whilst technically the harness the Spanish guy gives you is "plug and play", it still requires you to run the mic up to the center of the roof, which is a nightmare (same as Polish guy)... if you already have voice recognition, you're better off cutting the current mic cable and saving youself the hassle. In that situation, the harness the Polish guy gives you will be easier to do it with, it's less hassle.

I bought from the Spanish guy. Installation was very simple. Even the mike was pretty easy. The hardest part for me was putting the glovebox back. The plug and play harness worked although it is a tight fit behind the stereo, and I stowed the 730C behind the air-con controls rather than under the seat. The foam for under the seat looks ugly IMO.

You will need a VAG-COM.

The model you've linked to is different to the one I bought. I got the 7P6035730C.

One thing I don't like about the 730C is you can't use voice-control on the iPhone. You have to use the 730C voice menus and they are inferior to the iPhone. Also it claims to support AVRCP but the steering wheel buttons don't work for AVRCP. You have to use the voice menus and say the words "Play" and "Pause". Pretty dumb IMO.

I didn't find it that difficult to run the mike. For anybody that needs to do the same...

1) Remove the passenger side end piece of the dashboard; the end piece is parallel to the door when it is closed. Just stick a screwdriver into the only visible slot and twist.

2) Remove the tiny piece of plastic marked AIRBAG on the A-pillar cover. Start from the bottom and open it like a swinging door. It is a very tight fit. Use a plastic spatula to avoid damaging the plastic.

3) Remove the single screw behind the AIRBAG plastic piece. There are two clips holding the A-pillar cover. Pull firmly and both clips pop right off. The cover then slides out neatly.

4) Open the sun visor and pop the light out from the roof. The side closest to the door pops out easily. The other side, not so much. Don't force it. The clips look fragile.

5) Stick a credit card under the plastic piece with many holes in the above-head centre assembly. This pops out. Then remove the screws and the whole above-head assembly drops clear.

6) It's now a simple matter to run the mike cable from the dash to the above-head assembly. The mike locks into a specially designed clip holder in the assembly.

7) Running the cable from the side to the stereo involves dropping the glovebox. Open the glovebox and remove 4 screws from the top (2 angled in, 2 angled out). Then close the glovebox and remove 3 screws from the bottom. The glovebox will not drop. There is a tiny slot at the bottom to the right of the downwards facing air vent. Stick a flat head screwdriver in that slot and wiggle it about and then the glovebox drops. The glovebox has a lot of wires and ducts attached so have a pillow below it so it doesn't drop too far.

You now have clear line of sight to the centre console to attach the daisy-chain cable for the mike.

Fair enough... the alternative is to cut 2 wires and solder them into the new plug, saving having to do all those steps above
