Ahh you are right it looks like it is the 9W7, wonder where the difference lies? if any.

Time for another thread though - cheers.

Yep, check the BT options thread stickied at the top...

FWIW, my money is on 9W7 being just the NA version of 9ZB or at least a functionally identical version for our market.

I asked the service foreman for the part number of the 9ZB, but he said it couldn't be ordered for after market installation, that the 'premium kit' was only available as a part of a factory build.

Pepe, I'll send you a PM re the VIN for your contact to look it up.

Oh, and more Googling has found this : http://www.volkswagen.no/media/count...__mai_2010.pdf

A spec list from VW Norway, that lists 9ZB as the "standard" bluetooth kit and 9ZU as the "premium". That was as of May.

Furthermore, this post http://askavwsalesguy.com/2009/10/25...-golf-and-gti/ shows 9ZU being ordered in Oct 2009.

So, more useless trivia for a Friday afternoon...

Okay, the 9ZB thing is solved (big thanks to Maltopia for his VIN so I could follow this up)

    9ZB = 9W7

Using Maltopia's VIN, I had a VW parts guy look his car up on the system and confirm that the BT unit in the 9ZB code is 7P6 035 730B, which is the B version of the 9W7 kit. No idea why it's a different order code to 9W7 here, but it is the same thing. It has an integrated BT aerial, so is just a control unit.

VW Aus lists the price for the unit alone as $738.30 and doesn't have any in stock, in fact, they haven't ever had any. But, it is on their system now at least.

Does anyone know if the 9ZB/9W7 part can be integrated with an RCD310 as found in the new Polo's?

Just FYI I have had the new Kit installed in a 2007 Passat. It integrates perfectly with the RNS 510. Phonebook downloaded properly from iPhone 4 and voice dialing works with no issues. This does not work with the red MFD on the Passat, but I chose the kit due to it having no problems with iPhones (as opposed to the Skoda kit). Bluetooth audio also works perfectly and is as clear as using the MDI.

I recently fitted a 9W3 and RNS 510 in my car. If i can do, I'm sure you can. I mounted the unit in the dash under the radio (just behind the A/C controls.

There are instructions here on the installation. http://www.carsystems.pl/media/instr...oth%20v1.4.pdf

The trickiest bit is getting the microphone cable through the roof to where the overhead lights are.

I'll let someone else answer the RCD v RNS questions

I fitted the 9W7/9ZB to my passat wagon on the weekend, I wrote up some info here

My RNS510 already had voice activation setup, so I didn't have to do any coding for that, All I had to do was turn on the Telephone module in the can controller (19) in vagcom.
