VW map update for RNS510

Hi folks,
How can I update the maps in the RNS510? Where to buy the disc and how to update when I have the disc?

Hi Pete,

go to a dealer for a disc, currently version 6, they used to be really expensive but now they are down to about $50 on special (they were a few months ago anyway and think they still are) , they will load it for you if you ask but all you have to do is insert the disc into the head unit and it will auto load up, takes about 15 mins or so. ....VDUB...

Hi pete where are you ,a lot of members have the V6 maps disc and will install it for you it only takes 15 minutes , there should be some one close whats your suburb ?

By the way I just visited VW Barloword on Parramatta Rd.

Hmm. They quoted me $75 for the map update, no CD, they said they will do it through the computer, they dont sell the CD anymore and they said it would take 0.5-1 hour.

I asked them if this would include the RNS510 firmware upgrade too, they said no, that would be another $156 and it would take 2-4 hours!

I said thanks and left.

There are links to the latest firmware and maps in this section of the forum if you're prepared to look for them and DIY. Firmware is about 1 hour, maps are about 20 minutes.

Thanks Ryan, I am looking through the posts now. Originally I posted my question in the Tiguan section and it was moved to here, before I didnt see this part of the Forum.

Tons of information here. If someone could help me with the link to the latest V6 maps, I would be very greatful, I found one link to Google Docs, but it has expired.
