Hi all, l have been on ebay and found these guys in Queensland who state they sell the genuine RNs 510 for 1495.00 dollars, has anyone tried these guys at all and it states it has 12 months warranty.l have supplied the link below:

why dont you get one and tell us how it goes.

It's listed as 'as new' and not 'new', not sure who gives the warranty of if they'll be around in 12 months.

Also noticed the soft mod to enable video playback on the bottom of his page- that doesn't work anymore for newer firmware.

No, that one looks like it will fit a Golf IV. The one I got was this one: NEW VW GPS NAVIGATION 800x480 RNS510 MFD3 MFD2 AUS MAP - eBay, Navigation, GPS, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 24-May-10 00:39:15 AEST) - as it fits the Golf V as well as passat, Tiguan, Caddy, Jetta.

That seems like an alright price, only 1 neg feedback too in 12 months however doesn't look like he's sold many RNS units yet. Still a bit risky buying items of value from ebay as sellers could just be selling keyrings to get their positive feedback up for all you know.

If anybody wants to dip a toe into this water, I have the original AVC-9000 (see beginning of this thread) for sale. Around 18 months old, everything works as advertised... I replaced it in the wife's Golf for 2 reasons:
1. She has a very soft voice and the inbuilt microphone is on the LHS of the unit - not ideal....
2. Where she drives to work the ABC radio signal is quite weak and this unit is not as sensitive as some in picking up AM signal.
It gives you:
Radio, Bluetooth, GPS (IGO8, Tomtom, Route 66), DVD, music, photos, reversing camera and whatever I've forgotten (look at first couple of posts on page 1 for features.

First up, i found this guy on ebay from a quick google search trying to find decent satnav alternates for VW. Seems good. 'Autome305' seller on ebay has good units at seemingly stonking prices and he also has 100% feedback (see below)

Now, some might have seen my soapie dilemma with water entry nd my gateway module, but it has shown that my AVC unit was throwing an error code via the canbus. Diatribe here:-

To all the car audio gurus, my question is is there a Canbus upgrade or some sort of solution that will enable my AVC-9000 to be ru in my car with no hassles. Bearing in mind I will now have the (presumably) most up-to-date Gateway. Or is my AVC unit a $1000 paperweight?

If I can get an answer on that issue, i think I am faced with the following options:-
1) Try current unit with the help of forum members - FREE
2) Buy another unit from ebay and possibly get the same canbus errors (NEW 7" HD MFD CAR DVD GPS VW JETTA GOLFV PASSAT SEAT - eBay Car Video Units With GPS Nav, Car Video, Car Electronics, Electronics. (end time 16-Aug-10 17:11:11 AEST)) - $600 landed?
3) Buy an RNS510 unit from o/s (DVD GPS TV OEM RNS510 for VW Golf6,Scirroco,Passat 2010 - eBay, GPS, Electronics. (end time 14-Aug-10 22:24:59 AEST)) - $550 buy it now
4) Buy a tried and tested top-shelf unit and try and find a dash surround (Pioneer AVIC-F900BT DVD Navigation BLUETOOTH ipod USB - eBay Players, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 16-Aug-10 20:38:45 AEST)) - $700 fitted

I think I really need someone like Maverick on this one, as he had mentioned multiple Gateway versions and seems to know a bunch.

Is it an issue that they didn't want to reconnect, but if I was to install the unit they would code it? Is it actually a coding issue?
