As far as satnav goes... if it is not starting up automatically when u press NAV. then go into the NAV software screen and scroll right till u get to the setting that lets you pick where the NAV program file is. Then select the folder on the SD card that has the software and the EXE file ... so something like SD/TOMTOM/TOMTOM.exe and click that.

Once that is selected tick Automaticallly start box. or something like taht.

Basically just look through the settings under the nav button until you find it.

All I could suggest is that you reseat the CAN-BUS plug and the aerial connections.
Did you only use one of the aerial leads?
If you did, you may try to connect both. AERPRO do a Y connector. So if you purchased that and another Fakra to DIN adapter, you would get both aerials connected. That may improve your reception.

Thanks guys. its all installed now and running well except for the hissing sound . The sound can be heard on every source only when the volume is low?

The installer is saying its because of the unit not the installation. Should i be turning DBASS or EQUA off to get rid of the hissing?

    Cheers

I am very keen for one of these AVC9000 units (assuming I can somehow track one down )

What I want to know is if I could be able to install it in a 2002 VW Polo. From what I've seen Polos are quite similar to Golfs and it has a double DIN, just not sure if there would be something else that would cause it to not work?

You can get generic double DIN devices so I don't see what would be so specific as to not work. I do not have steering wheel controls, but I assume that is an optional control anyway so not needed.

This is a picture of my dash:

It is probably not the device so much, but the facia around the unit.
These AVC's go into several different type of car, and the difference is mainly in the facia attached to the units.

    I've just recieved an avc that i plan to fit to my jetta and have a couple of questions;

can anyone give me an idea of how i conect the reversing camera?
is it ok to just ditch the tv arial?
are there any wire conections to be made beyond straight foward plug in of wiring harnesses?
does the gps arial go under the grill on top of the dash?

    Thanks

The camera is the trickiest bit of the whole job but would be easier to pick up power from the light than a Golf. You need to run an extra wire from the reverse source wire down to the rear. You can leave the tv arial diconnected.
The GPS will fit under the grill with patience!!
Cheers and good luck with it,

thanks Andrew, now I just have to work up the courage to drill a hole. Can I just check I'm sure I read on another thread something about attaching an earth wire to somewhere near the handbrake, is all the wiring done through the harness apart from running power to the camera from the reverse light?

    Thanks again
