Anyone....?
Hi All,
Installed a 9w7 bluetooth unit yesterday, including the mic pass through to the RNS510.
If I push the 'star' (not actually a star because mine is a C unit... but you get the point) on the RNS510, I can control the RNS510 by voice.
If I push the 'mic' button on the steering wheel, I can control the bluetooth unit by voice.
Now my problem is, why can't I control the RNS510 by voice by pressing the steering wheel button? It seems not very intuitive to have 2 seperate buttons (one on the RNS, one on the steering wheel) to control 2 seperate systems... I would assume that the steering wheel button would allow me to control either.
Is there any other settings I need to change?
Thanks
Pat

Hi pat25d
Have exactly the same problem 2010 Tiguan (German RNS510C) downgraded from a Premium (needed to rnn iPhone and Skype) to a "Bluewagon " Bluetooth VW RNS 510 9W7 UHV/RSAP AD2P / 5K0035730.
With the premium the star button on the Steering wheel ran the RNS voice menu after unplugging the Prem and plugging in the 9W7 (no other changes) the Steering wheel star button started the ph bluetooth voice commands.
The star buttion on the RNS still works the RNS /Nav voice menu.
I Have aVCDs but dont know / cannot findout what to change,
Any help here also appreciated

I installed the 9w7 over the weekend and now have the same problem. The 'mic' button starts the phone bluetooth voice commands. I can't get it to work with the RNS510 anymore. To do that I have ti use the 'star' button on the RNS. Need help!!!

The solution is quite simple with VCDS, just open controller 77 Telephone, go to coding (long code) and disable voice control option for the 9W7. The steering wheel star button would now control RNS 510 only, but you'd still be able to voice control 9W7 through RNS 510....
Now, the interesting part - it seems the coding does not immediately disable the 9W7 voice control. I needed to remove the key from the ignition and wait for a while (rebooting of the 9W7?!) ... It took me 2 months to discover this...
Thanks Octaviars
Exactly the recoding needed now works as I want
