In my Golf 37-Nav and 56-Radio are exactly the same (I only ever use 37 though). If 37 works and the RNS510 works ok I wouldn't be super concerned about it tbh.
Greetings,
As the title says, for some reason, VCDS cannot access the controller 56 (in an Octavia) for my RNS510. I can access 37 (navigation) and 77 (telephone) without any problems. The GPS , MDI, and bluetooth all work as advertised, including display on the MFD.
Went on holidays, car battery went dead flat, causing a bit of grief. Eventually started the car after charging the battery, but had a heap of faults and warning lights due to an undervoltage error. I cleared all these and they have not returned. Controller 56 still wouldn't connect. It says diagnostics connected, then bounces back to the radio. It tries this 3 times then says there is an error. I have done full resets, including unplugging everything and removing the unit, but no change.
My questions are; is the controller external to the radio and any thoughts on if / how I can get it working again?
Thanks
Tom

Check in 19 CAN gateway installation, that 56 Radio is ticked. If not tick it and save. Anyway as Ryan R says, if everything works with 37 only, it should be OK.
also delete the fault codes at individual controllers mainly at 19 CAN gateway, rather than chust Erase All DTC.

Thanks for the replies. I will have a look at the settings in the CAN controller. I hear what you are saying about everything working so not to worry.
