Hmm...the nearest I can get to this in my Golf 7 is to hold the menu button down for a few seconds and get into a service menu. From there, I'm presented with the following information:

V7 Maps seem to be out... One company is charging $250 for a disc...

id be expecting an original disc for that price..........
Can I make a suggestion that for all those people who are interested in getting v7 maps that someone organise a Group Buy for legal copies. I'd put up my hand but I don't have an RNS510.

The biggest problem with VW maps is the price. The older ones were around the $100 mark for an out of date, bad map information map.
In contrast I have a Tomtom and get 4 maps a year which are more up to date and better info in them for $48 a year.
The other Tomtom I bought for USA trips cost $118 on Amazon and had FREE maps for life and FREE traffic as well.
If VW reduced prices and upped quality they may sell a lot more and stop people pirating an overpriced product.

I don't disagree with you but if you compare the number of TomToms out there to RNS510 in Australia it would probably be 20:1.
It costs the manufacturer the same to produce the update just have to recover the costs across a smaller number of devices.
Piracy only makes the price go up for those buying legal copies.

True but it was said in the other thread that they have a stock of unsold V6 in the thousands.
Rather than sell them at a premium and have lots left over wouldn't it be better to cut the price and sell the lot.
After all the price of the unit itself is astronomical compared to others of similar type and it wouldn't hurt them to throw in a free map with it annually to the original owner.
Think what it would do for customer relations. LOL
