V6 Australia Maps

Just finished installing the V6 map iso file which I downloaded from the Forum sticky thread. All seemed to progress fine except now when I select MAP I do not see any Street names shown. I should add car is just parked in our driveway at present. Does this sound OK or do I possibly have a problem?

Depends whether you have it in 2D or 3D mode and what zoom level.
Put it in 2d and zoom it out and see what happens It seems there are less street names in 3D mode but close adjacent ones appear as you drive past them.. In 2D mode you will see more if you zoom out to over 250m. You may need to go for a drive to get it to know where it is and to get the orientation correct That is depending whether you want track up or North up

Thanks for the quick response Hillbilly. Pouring rain here atm so I won't rush out to try yr suggestions! I have to go out later so I'll check then. Never used a satnav before and only had the Superb for a few weeks so its all a learning experience

To change between North up and Track up touch the compass Icon in top right corner. You should be used to rain down there We have had our first shower in about 7 weeks

Looking a bit better this morning. Selected Maps and seeing quite a few adjacent street names. Got to go to airport later today so I'll give Maps and Navigation a go and see how they look. Fingers crossed!

Having just crossed Sydney and back and NO street names displayed at all I obviously still have an issue. Tried reloading the disk I used yesterday however machine just accepts the disk and no sign of anything happening at all.
Inclined to download the V5 file posted here on the forum and just go back to version I had. If I find that works like it used to I might try the V6 file again later.

Try using the 2D mode or the 3D mode it should show the streets ,

Ian, was trying both 2D and 3D views at various times throughout the trip and nothing coming up. I've gone he back to V5 / 7679 for the time being. Quick drive around the local suburb on both Map and Navigation now shows quite a lot of street names. When I get time I may try and burn a fresh V6 image and start over again. From perusing various threads it certainly seems to be quite a common problem unfortunately.

Which image did you d/load as there was a crook one floating around Try this one it is the good one

The unit will NOT reload the SAME version as you have found out but will revert to V5 and then allow you to upgrade again.


I compared both and they were pretty much the same but V6 3D doesn't show quite as many streets as V5

No one has worked out why, as far as I know
